Spirits Of The Dead Set To Release New Album

When "Norway’s finest psychedelic-stoner-folk-band" Spirits of the Dead, released their eponymous debut album in 2008, few could have been more surprised than the band of the album's overwhelming reviews.

PRE-ORDER 'RUMOURS OF A PRESENCE' EXCLUSIVE BUNDLE PACKAGES

Crowned with a place in Classic Rock Magazine’s "The Best Albums of the Year", their second album ‘The Great God Pan’ somehow evoked a both retrospective and futuristic quality and made it clear that something was in the making. The band claimed they were "mixing the Sound of the Past with the Sound of the Future". Well...

Now it’s 2013, and Spirits of the Dead are about to raise the stakes. "Rumours of a Presence" digs deeper and goes to even more profound places than the band has ever been before. Recorded in remote districts of Norway, this grand record lingers on the big questions: Life, Death and the Sea. Well, to be honest...Death and the Sea, really.

Dom Lawson gives us an insight to the record in his liner notes, which can be read here.

Having just announced a European tour with Kadavar, the band looks forward to crossing the ocean to embark on a US tour later in the year.

Hatchet Premieres "Dawn Of The End" Single

March 5th, 2013 marks the release date of the latest album from the Bay Area’s Hatchet. The quartet’s sophomore work is a huge step forward in precise aggression, performance, songwriting and production. Having recently confirmed The End Records as the band’s new home the band and label recently shared the first single "Fall From Grace" and have now premiered the title track "Dawn Of The End" on Noisecreep.

Since hitting the Bay Area Metal scene in early 2007, Hatchet quickly made a name for itself. They worked hard to gig as often as they could and also not compete with, but group together bands of the like to help strengthen the scene. Focusing on playing with other young starting thrash bands in their area, the fan base grew. Eventually they reached out to the neighboring Los Angeles thrash scene which was also flourishing and invited various bands up to the bay area to diversify their shows, and spread overall thrash metal awareness.

After self-releasing two demos, the band’s debut album, “Awaiting Evil”, was released in mid-2008 via Metal Blade Records. The album was well-received by thrash enthusiasts around the globe and proved a great beginning for Hatchet. Since the release of the debut, the band has completed 3 full DIY U.S. tours that have helped put them on the map for up and coming thrash metal bands. Unfortunately in this time, the band also saw its share of lineup changes, which stalled overall progress of the group. Throughout the changes, founding member Julz Ramos always had the passion to keep the band going, even moving to take on vocal duties. Now in 2012, the band has never been stronger with its most dedicated, mature, and musically inclined members since its birth.

Their sophomore effort, “Dawn of the End”, released on their new label, The End Records, showcases a much more aggressive and professionally oriented band.  The group has stated its hunger to hit the road and prove that thrash metal is still a force to be reckoned with.

Krokus Releases "Dirty Dynamite" Video

For almost 40 years now, Krokus has stood for high-quality, honest-to-goodness, hand-made power rock. No other Swiss rock band sells albums and its back catalogue worldwide like Krokus. The band has already sold over 14 million records, toured the world, and received gold and platinum discs in the USA and Canada. The milestones in their rock career are dotted around the world: from Australia and the USA to Mexico, Russia, Japan, and China.

But it hasn't all been one long high: death, sickness, and internal strife have pushed the band to the brink of collapse. The story of Krokus is like no other. Dotted with highs and lows, sell-out stadium concerts and sweaty club gigs, these five musketeers of rock have outlasted trends and survived treacherous US managers, tough splits, bad deals, shady lawyers, drugs, awful fast food, endless bus trips, disco, grunge, grotesque record companies, and double-dealing advisors.

Today they are back in their classic line-up plus Mandy Meyer and are stronger than ever on their new album, DIRTY DYNAMITE. The band spent a whole two years working on the new album under the watchful eye of Chris Von Rohr. 'We didn't spend all that time on golf courses or tennis courts. No, we just wanted to make our best album yet, the magnum opus of the new Krokus era," says the hit producer. Guitarist Mark Kohler has this to add: 'This is not just another Krokus album. I think we have definitely passed another rock milestone with this record.'

To reach this goal, no expense was spared; the band booked into the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. Krokus went back to their roots, back to where it all began with the Stones, the Beatles, the Free, the Who, and the Bluesbreakers; back to where the band headlined concerts in the Hammersmith Odeon, celebrating their first international success. 'The atmosphere there is very special, and we wanted to make the most of that,' says singer Marc Storace. Guitarist Fernando von Arb is quick to add: 'With Dirty Dynamite, we have recorded the urgently needed, dirty kind of rock that no one plays in this country.'

Bassist Sam Roon says of the video “The Effects of Alcohol on Metal Musicians is the type of thing that happens when dudes in a band who like to drink get bored.  We decided to sacrifice our livers for the sake of comedy and to show the world what happens when you drink a ridiculous amount of alcohol and try to play fairly complicated music.  This was a really fun video to make and edit, and be sure to read what happened to us after the cameras were off at the end of the video!”

To buy the self-title debut album from HUNG head to their ReverbNation Store Here: http://www.reverbnation.com/store/view_item_album/artist_115061?item_id=1510342

Bassist Sam Roon says about Maria Maria is the first song HUNG ever wrote, it's also the first lyric video I created for the band (even though we released Sediment of War before it).  I wanted to work with Maria first because it has always been the 'foundation' song of the band.  I decided to pay tribute to some of the artists who bring the visual representation of HUNG to the world... the awesome photographers in the photo pit!  With a strong respect for their art in mind, and wanting to showcase the song that started it all, Maria became the song I decided to work with.  I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it!”

HUNG is a five piece metal band from New York City featuring Lyris Hung (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Bryan Adams) on violin, ‘Evil’ Jon Clark on guitar, bassist Sam Roon, drummer Kenny Grohowski and singer Dmitry Kostitsyn.  The band is gearing up for the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival as a main stage performer this year.
