Tatarus Seeks New Drummer

Tatarus is currently looking for a new drummer to join the fold! If you or someone you know is interested in writing some kick ass tunes with infectious grooves and memorable melody send them to Tatarus! The band is looking for someone who is down to play anything from acoustic songs to hard driving rock/metal. It is very important that the drummer is open to diversity! The bands style has been described as a mix between Lamb Of God, Pantera, and Black Label Society.

The band is located in the Olympia WA area, so you must be from there, be able to get there on a very regular basis for practice, or move. The band is very active, and still playing shows while searching. The members of this band have collectively opened for everyone from Lynch Mob, Motorgrater, Michael Schenker, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Anvil, Black Tusk, he Athiarchists, Ponykller, and many more!

If you think you have what it takes to take the throne, get in touch with the band at http://www.facebook.com/TatarusBand

Want Some V.I.P. Passes For Our Show July 21st?

To start with, if you have no idea what I am talking about here please CLICK HERE!

So I hope we have made it very clear that 100% of the money made from the door will be split amongst the five bands that are playing that night. Neither the venue nor Rock My Monkey will take a single penny. However, that is just not enough for us. We are here because of bands. This energy drink was created to support bands. So just paying them a split of the door is not enough for us. We want to give just a bit more. So we are offering a challenge.

IMPORTANT:
These V.I.P. passes are to be GIVEN AWAY and not sold.

Each band has been given their own specially marked V.I.P. pass. Fans and supporters of those bands can download, print, and distribute that band's specially marked V.I.P. pass. Between the bands, their fans, and their friends, we hope to see some serious networking going on. While the final band of the night is playing we will count up each band's cards.

  • The band with the most cards returned will get an extra $100.
  • The band with the second most cards returned will get $50.
  • The bands with the third and forth most cards returned will each receive $25.
  • The band with the least amount of cards returned will only be given their split of the door money.
  • Any band that has zero cards returned will not receive a prize in this contest.

TO BE CLEAR: If a band choses not to be a part of this contest, they still get paid for playing. This is above and beyond what is made at the door. This is extra payment.

The layout works best when printing on Avery 5870 business cards. Although we will accept any clear printing of the card.  So yes, paper will be fine too.

Again, paper is fine too.

Tatarus Singer Sends Westboro Church Packing!

It's not often that Metal singers are praised for defeating hate with love, but that is exactly what happened Thursday morning when Tatarus lead singer Michael Parent joined his fellow students in a counter protest against the infamous Westboro Baptist Church. As a graduating senior this was one monumental way to end life as a student and begin his life as a musician, but how Metal is it? "I believe it is pretty Metal when you keep in mind what the WBB is all about. For example when they went to Ronnie James Dio's funereal, they called him evil and a hell dweller for creating Heavy Metal music. If you are a true heavy metal enthusiast you know that RJD is one of the most kindhearted individuals in Heavy Metal music. I did think about how Dio would act if he was still alive today and he would just treat them with love."

After hearing from a friend that they were coming, Michael and a friend joked about "going radical" on them. For a brief second they even imagined taking it far enough to end up in jail over their actions. After some thought Michael dismiss it as "a waste of his time to spend energy with people who were one track minded. Instead of being in front of them and ignoring them, we made our own loving rally and I believe they were pretty pissed off at the end of the day."

On the groups reputation of baiting people so they can sue them:
"I would have loved to throw tomatoes at them or something of that nature, but after reading up on them I saw that most of them are lawyers and that this is how they get their money."

On the preparation of the counter protest:
"It was run by the student body. We just talked about making signs of love and singing happy songs about coming together."

On this being a great way to end his life as a student:
"Me being a person who has walked around every period over the past four years with an iPod in my hands, listening to some pretty thrashy music to get through the day, this brought it to a good conclusion that this was a good school to be in."

On this being an inspiration for new music:
"I've actually been working on a few songs like this. If you listen to my band Tatarus, a lot of our songs are about when you are stuck in a rut or any kind of negative energy. You create that into will power to get out of there. We want to be strengthening people with the music we make."
