Sourvein: Original Bass Player To Rejoin Lineup

Cape Fear doom kings, SOURVEIN are excited to announce the return of original bassist, Joshua ''JC Fari" Crapo, who played with the band from 1993 - 2001 and again from 2003 - 2006. Fari held down the low-end duties on both SOURVEIN's self-titled full-length and the He's No Good To Me Dead compilation (featuring SOURVEIN alongside Grief, Bongzilla, Negative Reaction and Subsanity) among other compilations as well as the Will To Mangle demos. Fari also played guitar on the band's split with Buzzov*en in 1995.

Fari relocated to Austin after Hurricane Katrina flooded his New Orleans apartment and studio in 2005 and left the band in 2006, following a successful tour of the UK with Remesses, to focus on his family. Since then, he's been raising his son and working as a recording engineer. As of this summer, Fari is finally able to commit to touring and recording with SOURVEIN full time.

Fari will join vocalist T-Roy and co. for the band's West Coast leg of the Black Fangs world tour in October.

The SOURVEIN collective wishes to extend its gratitude to Ahmasi O'Daniel (The Misanthrone Project) and Dave Sherman (Earthride) filling in on bast the past few tours.

Black Fangs was released via Candlelight Records on June 21.

"These riffs are so filthy and dirty, it's like being held facedown in mud." -- Decibel

"What really makes them so good, however, is how they’ve nailed the sludge attitude: throughout the album, the band sounds ugly and prickly, like old gizzards creaking out of their cave, squinting at daylight and cursing everyone’s name." -- Revolver

"With killer riffs, grooves and just enough experimental appeal to keep it interesting, this is an essential purchase for 2011." -- Cvlt Nation:

"This is how sludge metal is supposed to sound" -- Hellbound

"There’s just so much sinewy stuff here in which to sink your teeth, and their drubbing pace will keep you nodding your head at will with their thrashy melodies." -- Meat And Metal

Summer Releases: Sourvein, Wolverine, The Living Fields

Click to enlargeFollowing Memorial Day Weekend’s unofficial Summer kickoff, Candlelight Records is ready for a busy season with several new albums ready for release. The schedule includes anticipated full-length label debuts from North Carolina’s SOURVEIN and international bevy THE LIVING FIELDS, while Sweden’s WOLVERINE close a nearly five year gap with the release of their latest album.

SOURVEIN’s Black Fangs is already getting amazing early response from media. Set for release June 21, the album is every bit what fans had hoped for: Low-end, feedback-drenched, plodding doom! The road-savvy quartet are looking to overtake a venue near you in the coming months. Stay tuned for details.
Formed by T-Roy in 1993, SOURVEIN have released three full-length albums as well as a trilogy of EPs and various split recordings with the likes Buzzov*en, Bongzilla, Rabies Caste, Negative Reaction, Grief, Subsanity and Church Of Misery. The band also contributed to the Eyehategod tribute record, For The Sick with a cover of "Broken Down But Not Locked Up." The Obelisk recently noted of the new record: “Black Fangs is bound to be a highlight of 2011’s sludge releases.”

Communication Lost, from WOLVERINE, will also see release on June 21. Produced by Jacob Hansen (Tyr, Volbeat, Rob Rock), the album’s 11 emotive songs put end to a far-too-long musical silence for this progressive metal band. “Huge dynamics shifting from melancholia to guitar-driven sections, a pronounced rhythm workout, awesome piano and keyboard work, and excellent vocal melodies,” says Sea Of Tranquility, of the band’s unique creations. Still, the band’s first recording for Candlelight, was met with universal acclaim on its release in 2006. Kerrang gave the band their first 5/5 review as the five-piece hit the road on a short UK tour with Anathema.

THE LIVING FIELDS play an eclectic mix of metals fleshed out with piano, violins, viola, cello, and acoustic guitars. With recording processes spanning the Atlantic and East Coast, Running Out Of Daylight possesses a mature yet urgent sound that long caters to the band’s rife mixing of thrash, black, Viking, and epic metals. The album’s eight songs reflect the underlying moods and themes of the lyrics. The album features the debut of new guitarist Sam Rahn and is the first to include a real string section, courtesy of violinist/violist Chuck Bontrager and cellist Petar Kecenovici. Running Out Of Daylight was assembled at Fairview Recordings by Jay Walsh and was mastered in London by Tim Turan (Emperor).  The album will hit stores on July 12.

Candlelight’s summer release schedule follows the ongoing successes of HAVOK’s Time Is Up, BURZUM’s Fallen, ANAAL NATHRAKH’s Passion, and the XERATH’s II; all available in stores now.
