IN THE SILENCE Live:

6/08/2013 Marilyn's on K - Sacramento, CA w/ Zeroclient, Once An Empire

9/04-07/2013 Progpower USA - Atlanta, GA [info]

“...a promising start for In The Silence, and an album any progressive metal fan needs to hear. 4.5/5” - About.com

“...a new album stopped me dead in my tracks. It felt like an interpretation of the polished gothic metal of Katatonia through the eyes of a progressive rock fan, a marvelous blend of brooding atmosphere and adventurous yet disciplined songwriting.” - MSN Entertainment

"...In The Silence should soon be making their name known in the dark progressive subgenre with some really great songwriting and an impressively seasoned sound for such a new band. CD of the month." - The Right To Rock

"While some references to Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Anathema, and Green Carnation at times do pop up on A Fair Dream Gone Mad, In the Silence seem to be striving really hard for their own sound and style... - Sea Of Tranquility

"...if you like Opeth’s later releases, this is an essential release that touches all the same places." - Blogcritics

"While certainly in the progressive camp, In The Silence seems more interested in creating a 'wall of sound' from large layers of guitar than developing overtly technical arrangements." - Dangerdog Music Reviews

"Simple and gentle psychedelic guitar work contrasts the frenetic and uncontrollable drum work, wildly performing in the background even at the slowest of times, enhancing the sense of chaos without detracting from the melancholy provided by the rest of the instrumentation." - Axis of Metal

Lalu: Solo Project Of Vivien Lalu Signs With Sensory Records

Progressive metal linchpin Sensory Records is proud to announce the signing of LALU, the all-star-backed super project under the direction of French composer Vivien Lalu.

Born of Noelle and Michel Lalu, musicians from the ‘70s French progressive act Polene, Vivien Lalu has released a surplus of recordings through an array of different bands and projects since 1997, as the keyboard player for underground black/doom band Time For A Change. At the turn of the millennium Lalu played keys for two underground progressive metal bands from Paris, Sad Warden and then Mind's Orchard, and in 2002 was hired by Hubi Meisel (ex-Dreamscape vocalist) to compose and record the keys for his solo album EmOcean, the following year doing the same for Meisel’s sophomore album Kailash, both of which were released by Lion Music.

It was at this time Vivien Lalu begins recruiting his own associates from major prog and metal bands -- some of which he shares time composing music alongside in progressive metal act Shadrane -- and forms his own solo project, LALU. The first full-length Oniric Metal was released on Lion Music in 2005 and began an entirely new chapter for this composer and his insatiable need to create mind-expanding, cinematic music.

These accomplishments helped Lalu to begin securing score and soundtrack work for film and television; over the last few years he’s written many cues for the orchestral soundtrack for the Warner Bros movie Seuls Two, for the show Science X made in association with Lucasfilm Ltd. Additionally he joined the production team behind Laszlo Jones in order to assist the recordings and production of Banana Nation (Universal Music Group). He’s composed many soundtracks for French television, music and sound effects for Neko Entertainment, worked as a sound designer for Ubisoft Entertainment and much more.

After collaborating with Shadow Gallery for a song on their Digital Ghosts album, and working with Canadian drummer Chris Nalbandian for his Paralysis of Analysis solo album -- recording all keys and sharing solos with Derek Sherinian and Alex Argento -- Vivien finally settled in and began work on the second LALU opus. Handling all composition and songwriting duties, as well as all keyboards on the massive production, Vivien weaved the cloth of the new album with vocalist Martin LeMar (Mekong Delta), bassist Mike LePond (SymphonyX), guitarist Simone Mularoni (DGM), drummer Virgil Donati (PlanetX), the album’s parts recorded in several countries including the United States (Los Angeles and New York), Germany and Italy, produced by Lalu in his own studio, and mixed at Boumbox Studio in Paris by Yan Memmi (Dio’s Lock Up The Wolves, Marcus Miller’s The Sun Don't Lie, etc.). Additional contributions from Jens Johansson (Stratovarius), Joop Wolters (Shadrane), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Marco Sfogli (James LaBrie), Mike Andersson (Cloudscape) and Peter Wildoer (James LaBrie) were also carefully built into the album, the final product boasting over fifty minutes of exceptional, massive  cinematic, atmospheric metal Lalu has dubbed, Atomic Ark.

Sensory Records signed LALU immediately upon hearing the opus, and has excitedly confirmed the release date for Atomic Ark for September 9th in Europe and September 10th in North America. More details on the album will be disbursed over the Summer months as the release date draws closer, but for now fans can check out a medley of choice segments from Atomic Ark and view the artwork by Travis Smith (Amorphis, Anathema, Tarja, Opeth) AT THIS LOCATION.

In The Silence: Sensory Records Debut Confirmed For May Release

A Fair Dream Gone Mad, the debut album from Sacramento, California-based dark/progressive quartet, IN THE SILENCE -- initially confirmed for official release via Sensory Records this month -- has been moved back several weeks. Due to a manufacturing mishap, the final product has been delayed, and the record will now be in stores for its new street date, Tuesday, May 7th.

Musically comparable to the emotional output of Katatonia, Porcupine Tree and Opeth but boasting a more progressive nature than said acts, IN THE SILENCE surges with incredibly moving riffs and otherworldly atmospheres, boasting a huge mid-tone clean vocal performance atop a thunderous display of technical metal percussion. A Fair Dream Gone Mad’s forty-five minute lifespan possesses massive, pristine production, further magnifying the band’s skilled approach. The band self-released the album in two very limited runs, and when both pressings were immediately vanquished, they decided it was time for the album to have an official release. Sensory Records, a division of The Laser’s Edge, will give A Fair Dream Gone Mad the proper worldwide distribution and attention it deserves, with updated digipak and digital download versions coming in early May. Preview several songs from the album and more AT THIS LOCATION.

IN THE SILENCE will tour in support of A Fair Dream Gone Mad throughout the year, including a performance at the massive annual ProgPower USA XIV festival in Atlanta, Georgia, where they’ll share the stage with Circle II Circle, Rhapsody, Wolverine, Soilwork, Shadow Gallery, Wolf, Circus Maximus, Armored Saint and more.

My Soliloquy: Sensory To Release Debut From British Prog Metal Unit

The progressive metal purveyors at Sensory Records, a division of The Laser’s Edge Group, have confirmed the release of the debut studio opus from British prog outfit MY SOLILOQUY in North America on January 29th, 2013.

MY SOLILOQUY was formed by multi-instrumentalist Pete Morten in 2002. Since then the quintet has released a number of demos, gaining traction in the metal underground, and have performed a number of notable support shows with Pagans Mind, Power Quest, Oliver and Rick Wakeman and Threshold, as well as a second-to-headlining set at Bloodstock 2005 and a showcase at ProgPower UK II in 2007. Additionally, since 2007, Morten has been an active member of British prog metal legends Threshold. His membership has raised awareness (and created anticipation) for MY SOLILOQUY’s long awaited debut.

The essence of MY SOLILOQUY is pure forward thinking metal – symphonic keyboards, shredding guitar leads, soaring vocals – all finely woven together through a blend of intricacy and melody into a powerful force fans of Threshold, Dream Theater and Circus Maximus will flock to. Following a pair of demos and an EP release, Sensory is proud to finally unleash the newly-completed first full-length from this act. With nearly all instrumentation on the recording executed solely by Pete Morten, minus the drumming, The Interpreter flows with over fifty minutes of grand musicianship, expertly mixed and mastered by Rob Aubrey, a mainstay of Marillion’s camp for many years.

Check out a trailer for The Interpreter as well as the album’s striking cover art and more AT THIS LOCATION.

The Interpreter Track Listing:
