Rock Of Ages Will Make You Cringe Like Never Before

Ok, am I the only one who could not help but think of the song "Girl From Oklahoma" by Steel Panther every time they mention that the female lead was from Oklahoma? No? Alright, it was just me. Fine. I feel the need to make it clear right away that this movie will make you cringe more than any movie you have seen in awhile. It will also make you laugh though. Many times it will make you cringe and laugh at the same time. However this is one of those movies that can wait until it hits Netflix. Mainly because you will want to do shots of some of the hard stuff while watching and most theaters still do not have bars for movies like this. Screw all of this headache inducing 3-d and Imax bullshit, I need to drink while watching my youth get raped like Indiana Jones on South Park! No seriously, for the most part it is worth watching. It is the most fun you will have while cringing every few seconds.

However, there are some purly negative elements that would have made the movie better if they were fixed. The lip syncing is off sometimes and I swear that they sped up Tom Cruise's voice. Is there any footage of him pulling off any of these songs in a truly live setting? No? There might be a reason. he can't do it live. The thing was filmed in Florida instead of where the story is based in. If they would have done it in L.A. they could have had it at The Whiskey instead of the obvious second rate rip off "The Bourbon." It also didn't help that Prometheus was bleeding through from next door. Could Regal not cough up enough for noise cancellation? Lastly, what was up with Mary J. Blige being in this movie? When they make Rap Of Ages can the guys in Godsmack be in it? Oh wait, there won't be a Rap Of Ages because Rap blows Hey Man's (the monkey) nuts. They had Sebastian Bach and Nuno Bettencourt in the movie and their parts were so small that I never remember them being in the movie. I was shocked to see them in the credits. Yet some rap bimbo gets major screen time? Why not Doro Pesch, Maria Brink of In This Moment, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, or any number of talented female Rock musicians? My only point is that the casting director needs to be bitch slapped.

I did love seeing Pig Vomit playing a slimy scum sucking pile of crap again. He seems to do those roles well. Yeah, sorry Paul Giamatti but you will always be Pig Vomit to me, but I mean that in a good way. It has always been one of your best roles. I also found it interesting that they did more "poster on the wall behind people speaking" style name dropping of the band Jet Boy than Jet Boy got at the peak of their career! With them being such an important part of the L.A. glam scene it was good to see them get so many plugs. I also love that they made the anti-rock protesters the religious right instead of the more left wing PMRC. For those of you too young to remember, the religious right has had decades of being the pro-censorship folks. The PMRC was just a blip in the grand picture, but I doubt most will remember that.

If you do go see the movie you will enjoy yourself. It is almost a parody of all this Glee crap that some seem to think is good for Rock and Metal. How it is good to water things down like that is beyond me, but some think to think so. This comes close to that, but this movie does not take it's self seriously at all. This is 50% Glee mockery and 50% modern Spinal Tap style humor. A warning though to all guys. There is a scene with Alec Baldwin and Russel Brand that you will wish you could un-see, but you cannot un-see what you have already seen. So again I ask Regal to start serving drinks during movies like this. It would help so much.

Asking Alexandria & Sebastian Bach To Perform Together

ASKING ALEXANDRIA and Sebastian Bach Meet For Revolver Magazine's
“Rebel Meets Rebel” Feature; Perform Together At The Golden Gods Awards On 4/20

The UK sensation, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, are infamous for embracing the 80's hard rock mentality and this era of music has definitely had an influence on the band's sound since their inception. The group recently paid homage to one of their heroes, Sebastian Bach, by covering the Skid Row classics “Youth Gone Wild” and “18 and Life” on their latest Life Gone Wild EP. Their refreshing, unique take on these hard rock legendary hits caught the attention of Bach, who has since become a huge fan of the band.

Revolver Magazine quickly realized that getting ASKING ALEXANDRIA and Sebastian Bach together on stage would be something magical and are ecstatic to have them perform “Youth Gone Wild” together for the very first time at the Golden Gods Award Show. This is going to be held at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles on April 20th. The band is also nominated in the “Best New Band” category, which is decided on by the fans, so be sure to click the link below to cast your vote for ASKING ALEXANDRIA now.

On top of all this, ASKING ALEXANDRIA recently conducted an in-depth interview with Sebastian Bach as part of Revolver's renowned “Rebel Meets Rebel” feature. In this comprehensive 4-page feature ASKING ALEXANDRIA's Danny Worsnop (vocals) and Ben Bruce (guitars) spoke with Bach about a plethora of topics such as the rigors of the hard partying lifestyle on tour, Bach's “Youth Gone Wild” era, Amsterdam memories and “pussy passes,” among a slew of other hilarious info that make this a must read interview. This feature can be found in Revolver's new Nikki Sixx cover feature, which is on stands now.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA are set to make their return to North America headlining a massive touring package this spring with Emmure, Chiodos, Miss May I, Evergreen Terrace and Lower Than Atlantis rounding out the bill. The trek, dubbed “The Reckless and Relentless Tour,” kicks off on March 11th and runs through April 17th. This is easily the first must see event of the year. Either see below or visit www.facebook.com/askingalexandria to view the touring itinerary and look for the band's new full-length album, Reckless and Relentless, in stores everywhere on April 5th.
