Primordial Confirm Appearance At Progpower Usa XIII

Ireland's finest metal export, Primordial, will once again be returning to North American shores this September. A short run of dates, beginning September 7th, will culminate in the band's performance at ProgPower USA XIII. Primordial welcomes While Heaven Wept and Cormorant as support for the tour dates leading up to the festival. The full schedule can be seen below.

Vocalist Alan 'Nemtheanga' Averill elaborates: "Long and hard is the road…we are well aware that over the years we haven't played in North America remotely as much as we have wanted to. There are reasons of course, mostly economic and some small amount of simple bad luck that have prevented us over the years but we are finally making it back for the first time since our full tour as part of Paganfest in 2009. Admittedly, yes it is only seven dates and was fleshed out around the Progpower festival on the last day in Atlanta, but with a will there is a way and here we are with a mini tour to announce. We are patently aware there will be lots of disappointed Primordial fans in North America we won't be hitting their area, but hopefully this will sow a few more seeds which means we might return in 2013. So for now…the seven dates of hell…see you down the front…"

ProgPower USA XIII also features Epica, Symphony X, Redemption, and many more. For tickets and info, visit http://www.progpowerusa.com/.

Primordial's latest album, Redemption at the Puritan's Hand, was released on April 26th, 2011. The album, not unlike its predecessor, To The Nameless Dead, received numerous positive reviews from press worldwide, and can be ordered now at metalblade.com/primordial.

"the best songs of the band's two-plus decades-- folk and black metal-inflected classic metal that spirals and extends and, somehow, keeps getting bigger. This thing has a way of making slowly rotting in front of your laptop feel epic." Pitchfork.com

"every guitar quiver and despairing roar drips with grim portent." Decibel Magazine, #12 on Decibel's Top 40 Extreme Albums of 2011

"Primordial have developed their "epic" side to new proportions…their most grandiose and accomplished work yet." 9/10, Terrorizer Magazine

"With all the bands out there that sound like Maiden or attempt to rip the band off, Primordial is the only band that crafts these epic albums with the same spirit, the same attention to detail." CraveOnline.com

"...simply one of the best progressive metal albums of the past year.15/16" - Progression Magazine

"The quintet blows through these epics with precision and grace, making a case for this band being one of the subgenre's future stars." - Outburn

"...complete with dazzling guitar leads and stabbing synths, the results are extraordinary. To top it all off, Neil Kernon handled the engineering on the album, and as you can imagine, it sounds great. 4/5" - Sea of Tranquility

"With all this talent it is refreshing to hear that they don't really focus so much on the actual technical wizardry of the musicianship but on the writing of great dark, brooding melodic songs... 8/10" - Hellbound

"You will find that the album is well worth the time. This is no flowery, wankfest prog metal album that bores the piss out of you like most do to me. 4/5" - Metallus Maximus

"...a band that features some superbly talented musicians and I anticipate them being one that will quickly rise to the top of the list in the hearts and minds of Progressive and Power Metal fans around the world. 4.25/5" - Piercing Metal

Ihsahn Confirmed For Progpower Usa

Click to enlargeFormer Emperor vocalist/guitarist IHSAHN will make his first American solo appearance at ProgPower USA, scheduled September 14-17 at Center Stage in Atlanta. Confirmed by festival organizer Glenn Harveston, IHSAHN replaces Arcturus on the Friday evening lineup of the popular music festival. Tickets are nearly sold out; fans are encouraged to buy tickets now.

IHSAHN comments, "I am very excited to get the opportunity to play at ProgPower. My backing band, Leprous, played the festival last year and had a fantastic time. Given the nature of my solo-material, I believe this festival will be a great place to present it live.  I have already performed at several festivals/shows in Europe in 2009/2010 and will do a few more this year.”

IHSAHN’s performance is expected to include selections from all three solo albums – The Adversary (2006), Angl (2008) and his most recent, After (2010). "As compelling as Emperor's best,” says Decibel in a review of After in their February 2010 issue. Continuing, the magazine notes, “IHSAHN sounds as fresh as he did fifteen years ago, but with the hindsight of a grown man." Revolver called the album, "brimming with classical, goth, prog, and eighties-metal passages."

After completes IHSAHN’s planned trilogy of initial recordings. The album showcases the Norwegian icon with drummer Asgeir Mickelson (Spiral Architect), bassist Lars K. NorbergSpiral Architect), and saxophonist Jorgen Munkeby (Shining). Currently at work on his fourth album, IHSAHN confirms he is eighty percent done with the songwriting and is planning for a mid-2012 release.

Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy) Award Nominee IHSAHN (born Vegard Tveitan) began playing music at a very early age. As a teenager, his friendship with Tomas Haugen (a.k.a. Samoth) would trigger the start of his music career -- one that to date includes over fifty individual recordings, five high-profile Emperor European tours (the band reaching US shores on only three occasions) and the respect of fans and peers worldwide. In mid-2009, IHSAHN gave his first live performance in Oslo supporting Opeth.

IHSAHN is endorsed exclusively by Ibanez Guitars, Line 6, Steinberg and Blackstar Amplification.

Tickets for ProgPower USA are available now via Ticketmaster.
