World's Shortest Album To Be Featured On BBC Radio

Earache Records is marking this year's Record Store Day with a number of limited edition releases, including "The World's Shortest Album", which will be available on vinyl for the first time.

As part of a Record Store Day special feature, The World's Shortest Album is due to be played in its entirety on the Steve Lamacq show on BBC Radio 6 Music this Thursday, 18th April.

All 83 seconds of the record-breaking album will be played during the show, which airs live from 6:00pm on Thursday and will also feature a number of other Record Store Day tracks alongside artists discussing the records.

Tune in this Thursday to hear The World's Shortest Album at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01ry2qr

The World's Shortest Album
crams an assortment of the best grindcore acts from the past two decades into less than two minutes, including NAPALM DEATH, WORMROT, A.C., INSECT WARFARE, BRUTAL TRUTH and more.  The album will be on a 5" vinyl, presented in a 12" sleeve, and will be available this Saturday, 20th April at independent record stores.

Former NAPALM DEATH drummer MICK HARRIS comments:

"'The Kill' and 'You Suffer' came about at the end of my first demo recording 8-track reel to reel the 'From Enslavement to Obliteration', which was me on drums, Justin Broadrick on guitar and backing vocals, and Nic Bullen on bass and vocals.  We never planned these two songs; they were put together - I guess almost improvised - on the spot as we had a few minutes of recording time left over.  I think we were just in that spirit of the studio vibe and amongst ourselves on the spot came up with two short songs, one being the very short 'You Suffer' (we got it even shorter on the Scum recording).  The first time we played it live we must have gotten some laughs, at the classic Mermaid pub we were so often playing at.  Good fun; a doss; a mark of the times.  Great days..."

The full track listing for The World's Shortest Album is as follows (with timings in seconds):

Side A:
01. Napalm Death - You Suffer (1.9s)
02. Napalm Death - Dead (2.7s)

Earache To Release 'The World's Shortest Album'

EARACHE RECORDS will be marking this year's Record Store Day with a number of special limited edition releases.  Among the rarities being unveiled on April 20th will be "The World's Shortest Album" - available on vinyl for the first time and clocking in at just 83 seconds.

Crammed into less than two minutes is an assortment of the best grindcore acts from the past two decades: NAPALM DEATH, WORMROT, A.C., INSECT WARFARE, BRUTAL TRUTH and more.  The album will be on a 5" vinyl, presented in a 12" sleeve.  You can view the artwork here: http://earacherecords.com/myspace/worldsshortestalbum_rsd.jpg

INSECT WARFARE founder Beau Beasley commented on the power of short songs:

"The first time I heard 'You Suffer' was an experience like this: it was like the sound of two pieces of large, rusted metal colliding.  Quick, scathing, and confusing.  A car crash.  Not literally, but might as well have been.

"I like the primal aspect of these songs.  Anything that really needs to be said can really be expressed very simply.  Think of the power of the word 'NO'.  When you hear it yelled you immediately know its intent.  Imagine that power with the sound of a blast beat behind it."

Second Annual Decibel Magazine Tour Lineup + Dates Announced

After a bloody successful maiden voyage in 2012, Decibel Magazine is doubling down on veteran star power for their second annual national tour. This spring, the plague spreads as Decibel brings you three living legends of death metal and grindcore: the preeminent gore institution Cannibal Corpse; rabble-rousing U.K. grind icons Napalm Death, and NYDM stalwarts Immolation.

While occultism permeated last spring's inaugural dB tour—featuring exclusively European headliners in Behemoth, Watain, the Devil's Blood and In Solitude—they looked (mostly) to North America for this year's unholy assemblage. Three of Decibel's favorite underground powerhouses will take on this year's rotating opening slot: demented Bay Area death-grinders Cretin, Canadian tech-prog upstarts Beyond Creation and Beltway grind/powerviolence crushers Magrudergrind. And the time is ripe to see the new bleed into the old: three of the six artists performing are expected to have new records detonating during the tour.

Cannibal Corpse will be releasing a box set to commemorate their 25th anniversary: Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal. The box contains: all 12 full length studio albums in a 12 CD foldout case with new artwork, "Torturing and Eviscerating LIVE" on CD and LP Picture Disc recorded in Tampa, FL 2010 / Milwaukee, WI 2012, PLUS: NEW EXCLUSIVE images by VINCE LOCKE, 12" X 12" graphic prints of all 13 original album covers, and a 2013 Cannibal Corpse Calendar. The box will be in stores on March 16th and will be available for pre-order soon, along with the previously announced series of Cannibal Corpse picture discs, HERE.

Kicking off in May, this year's Decibel Magazine Tour gauntlet will last a full week longer than its 2012 counterpart, spanning over 30 North American dates. Presented by Metal Blade, Indiemerchstore.com, Nuclear Blast, Lace Pickups, Century Media and Season of Mist, the 2013 Decibel Magazine Tour will bring together the kind of globally-renowned, boundary-pushing innovators that have made it possible for the magazine to continue thriving for over 100 issues. Coming off a tour noted for Behemoth frontman Nergal's triumphant return to the States following his battle with leukemia—which culiminated in an explosive sold-out closing gig in New York City—Decibel had no choice but to go bigger and even more badass.

"We're psyched to be headlining this year's Decibel Magazine Tour along with Immolation and Napalm Death," says Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster. "This is a lineup of bands that have been a consistent part of the death/grind scene for decades, and we're proud to be a part of it. It will be a legendary night for extreme music."

"Do you remember the Blue Grape Merchandise catalog?" asks Decibel Editor in Chief Albert Mudrian. "How about the Hard N' Heavy Grindcore Video Special? Or purchasing CDs in longboxes? Then this year's Decibel Magazine Tour was aseembled for you. See you on the campaign trail for musical destruction."

Here's an early opportunity to score a great deal AND avoid standing in line. Twenty premium packages are available in each market that include your ticket to the show, a tour T-shirt, a tour poster, a super-exclusive "Skip the Line" pass to move you to the front when doors open, one free track, Scourge of Iron, from the forthcoming Cannibal Corpse box set, Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal (3/19), and one 10% off coupon for a purchase on IndieMerchStore.com. The price of this package is less than you would spend on a ticket and a tour shirt at the show! More details, including ticket info, will be announced at www.decibelmagazinetour.com.

Torture landed at #7 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart, #4 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums chart and #32 Billboard Top Current Albums Chart. Produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan, Torture continues to reap critical accolades from critics and fans around the globe and is yet another testament to Cannibal Corpse's permanent allegiance to shrewdly arranged, pile-driving death metal madness.

Godflesh To Release 'Hymns' Deluxe Remaster

Godflesh is classic, ballsy, catchy, and mean.  Justin Broadrick (the band’s frontman, and ex member of Napalm Death) manages to craft catchy riffs and choruses into the mix without losing a drop of originality. Even though ”Hymns” is the band’s swan song, it still sounds just as passionate as their first record "Streetcleaner".   Often called their finest album, “Hymns” was released on 2001, and is now being re-issued by The End Records as a Special Edition 2CD Deluxe Remaster with Bonus Tracks, Liner Notes, Lyrics and Never Before Seen Photos and Images.  Always a few steps ahead of the pack, Godflesh have once again reinvented themselves, providing their audience with a challenging and inspirational slab of crushing industrial metal.
