Nachtmystium Posts New Track, "I Wait In Hell"

On July 30th in Europe and July 31st in North America, the Chicago-based black metal outfit NACHTMYSTIUM is set to release Silencing Machine, their 6th full length album and next celebrated chapter in the band's storied career. Recorded at Engine Studios with the band's own synths/electronics specialist Sanford Parker (YOB, PELICAN) handling producer duties, Silencing Machine is, as front-man/lead guitarist Blake Judd puts it, "A fuckin' black metal record". Nachtmystium Launches Making Of 'Silencing Machine' Videos

To give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Silencing Machine, NACHTMYSTIUM has now launched the first of five in-studio videos featuring exclusive footage and interviews with the band. Chrome Waves: Black Metal Rising

When discussing Chrome Waves the temptation is to chuck out the word supergroup and talk about their music in terms of giant ocean swells decimating everything in their path. Being that the band is composed of some of the best metal musicians around, including former members of The Atlas Moth, Nachtmystium and Wolvhammer, the label is actually spot on. And their sound? Well, let’s just say that tsunami and tidal wave metaphors are apt. But with a debut self-titled release fresh out the box as of 7/3/2012 (courtesy of our own Josh Eldridge’s metal label Gravedancer Records—yes you can expect big things on the metal front—and EMI distribution) you don’t have to take our word for it. MetalSucks recently premiered the single, “Height of the Rifles,” claiming Chrome Waves is “…a delicious stew concocted from the best parts of all three bands, a dark mix of black metal, Atlas Moth-ian dreary, atmospheric doom and a certain rawness of which Gates of Slumber fans would approve.”

Meanwhile, the metal heads over at CVLT Nation are calling the album “one of the most impressive EP efforts of 2012.” In our humble estimation, Chrome Waves is a pummeling, psychedelic black metal heart infused with strikingly beautiful melodic riffs, post-rock arrangements and the death call guttural rasps and potent screeches of vocalist Stavros Giannopolous. At the same time, the trio manages to unleash an accumulation of deafening medieval sound and drawn out atmospheric moments of pure inevitable calm we imagine must finally replace the panic of being held beneath a roiling sea.

Chrome Waves will soon be on the road delivering their haunting brand of black metal to the masses. In the meantime, check out their self-titled debut EP available now.

Chrome Waves Stream Full New Album

CHROME WAVES is gearing up for the release of their self-titled debut this coming Tuesday via Gravedancer Records.
