Dropkick Murphys To Join Mumford & Sons

Dropkick Murphys are set to join the lineup for Mumford & Sons’ first U.S. Gentlemen of the Road Stopover on Saturday, August 4 at the Eastern Promenade in Portland, Maine. Following Mumford & Sons’ headlining performance on the mainstage, Dropkick Murphys will close the outdoor festivities on the second stage. Later that night – in keeping with the spirit of the Gentlemen of the Road – Dropkick Murphys head to Portland’s State Theater for a headlining gig of their own.

“We hung out with our buddies Mumford & Sons a few weeks ago at a festival in Europe, and they called today to invite us to play their Gentlemen of the Road festival up in Portland, Maine on Saturday, August 4. It sounds like a great time, so we're going to jump out of the studio to close the second stage,” says Dropkick Murphys bassist/singer Ken Casey.

“The festival is sold out, so we're hoping some of you already have tickets…but if you don't have tickets, don't worry! As part of the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover, all the bands will be doing their own late night shows throughout Portland. We're lucky enough to be doing our own show at the State Theater. The opening band will be our friends from Cape Cod, the Parkington Sisters.”

Tickets for the August 4 State Theater show will first be available for sale to those holding Gentlemen of the Road Stopover festival tickets from Wednesday, July 25 at 10am EST through Thursday, July 26 at 10am EST. Remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 27 at 10am EST. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Doors open at 9:30pm, with the Parkington Sisters performing at 10:30pm and Dropkick Murphys on stage at 11:30pm. For tickets and more information, go to www.dropkickmurphys.com.

The lineup for Portland’s Gentlemen of the Road Stopover includes Mumford & Sons, Dropkick Murphys, St. Vincent, Dawes, The Maccabees, Apache Relay, Simone Felice, and Haim. For complete details, go to: http://gentlemenoftheroad.com/portland/.

Mumford & Sons’ Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are a series of all-day summer festivals at handpicked locations around the world. Each stopover is a daylong event, celebrating the music, food and people of the places where they visit. Mumford & Sons bring a full lineup of some of their favorite bands from around the world to each stopover, and curate events that combine a music festival and local gathering into one epic party – starting early and going late, taking the party from the stage to the town.

As previously announced, Dropkick Murphys kick off their “Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day Tour” on September 14, highlighted by a September 21 hometown performance at Boston’s Bank Of America Pavilion waterfront amphitheatre.
