Final episode of Fringe airs Jan 18th!

As the FRINGE team fights for humanity’s future in the fifth and final season, the imaginative journey toward the end of the acclaimed series will culminate in a climactic conclusion during the two-hour final-two-episodes event Friday, Jan. 18 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. This milestone date will also celebrate the series’ 100th episode.

Series Co-Creator and Executive Producer J.J. Abrams reflected on the show’s run: “It has been an absolute honor to have been a part of the weird and wonderful world of FRINGE. I will always owe the cast and crew for pouring their hearts and souls into every dimension of this series. Creating the show with Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman was a joy, but watching it evolve over the years into such an imaginative, insane and heartbreaking ride is nothing less than a thrill. I am grateful to our blessed fans, and to Kevin Reilly and Peter Rice and everyone at the glorious Fox network for allowing FRINGE to reach its bittersweet conclusion.

Executive producer and showrunner J. H. Wyman said, “Above all else, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to personally thank everyone involved with FRINGE. From the most amazing fans, to our incredible cast, writers and crew, and our wonderful partners at FOX and Warner Bros. – we would not be here without you. It simply cannot be overstated how grateful I am for the ongoing and unconditional support we have received over the past five seasons. It has been both mind-blowing and humbling. I’ve always been a fan of science fiction, and to be able to tell this story about a family – a family that, through everything, fought together for survival – has been a highlight of my career. As we approach the final chapter, I can hardly believe it, and I’m just truly thankful for this unparalleled experience.

FRINGE has truly imagined the impossibilities over its five seasons and will go down in the books as one of FOX’s most riveting and creatively brilliant series,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “It has been a blast to work with J.J., Joel and their masterful creative teams, as well as with Anna, Josh and John and the rest of the most talented cast and crew in the business.

Throughout FRINGE’s thrilling five seasons, the series has followed Special Agent OLIVIA DUNHAM (Anna Torv), enlisted institutionalized “fringe” scientist WALTER BISHOP (John Noble) and his globe-trotting, jack-of-all-trades son, PETER (Joshua Jackson) as the Fringe team explored mysterious occurrences linked between parallel universes, doppelgängers, Observers and unimaginable threats. The unlikely trio supervised by Special Agent PHILLIP BROYLES (Lance Reddick) and assisted by ASTRID FARNSWORTH (Jasika Nicole) – often led them to science and technological corporation Massive Dynamic, founded by WILLIAM BELL (guest star Leonard Nimoy), and its enigmatic chief executive, NINA SHARP (Blair Brown).

The fifth and final flash-forward season of FRINGE is set in 2036, when the “Observers” have become ruthless rulers of a dystopian society. As the battle for the world’s future continues to unfold, the Fringe team is in the midst of making its final stand to save humanity. In the aftermath of the devastating loss of Peter and Olivia’s daughter, ETTA (guest star Georgina Haig), the intensity escalates as the combat continues and Peter makes a pivotal and game-changing move in the all-new “An Origin Story” episode airing tonight (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, FRINGE is produced by Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Abrams, Bryan Burk and J.H. Wyman serve as executive producers, while Akiva Goldsman is a consulting producer. “Like” FRINGE on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Fringe. Fox Pisses On Sci-Fi Fans Once Again

Can we make it a rule that any Sci-Fi production that trusts Fox needs to be bitch slapped into oblivion? The Sci-Fi hating network has announced today that Raising Hope, New Girl, and Glee have all been renewed. In case you are not aware of these shows, New Girl stars the sister of Bones star Emily Deschanel. So it's like Dr. Temperance if she was some annoying pretentious and perky bimbo. If you are lucky enough to not know what Glee is, imagine a show that took all the songs of the greatest musical legends and had them gang raped by the biggest collection of fakes ever to slap together a musical. Raising Hope is pretty much a collection of young parent clichés put together like they are trying to make scraping nails on a chalkboard seem pleasant.

New Hope has ratings that are pretty close to those of Fringe, yet Fringe is still left "on the bubble". Terra Nova has already been pronounced dead. No word on the amazingly intelligent but tragically ignored Alcatraz either. Time after time Fox has proven that the only reason it launches Sci-Fi shows is because of it's hatred for them. If they get the rights they can get rid of it. I am convinced that they buy the shows to dismantle them. I am a Browncoat and Fox can suck it!

Top Ten Sci-Fi Shows You Are Not Watching But Should Be

There are some shows that didn't make my top ten that I am sure some of you will bitch about. Please feel free, because your opinion is just as important as anyone's. Seriously, this is just my opinion. Supernatural while being one of my favorite shows of all time is starting to feel like beating a dead horse. It kind of needs to stop while it's ahead. Awake is a show I am just now hearing about and will try and give it a chance as soon as I can. Being Human has both a U.K. version and a U.S. version so it might take me awhile to get through this one. Chuck and Eureka are both sadly already dead. Doctor Who of course is still doing great (with viewership) so it doesn't fit this list, but deserves a mention. Falling Skies is doing great with viewers as well and is just about to start back up again. If you are not already a fan you should start trying to catch up now. I am hearing great things about A Gifted Man too. It is also at risk, but I am just now hearing about it. Primeval is one I keep meaning to catch up with, but have never got around to it. Which brings us to the list. I know there are too many great shows to watch, but if we focus on shows like this and stop watching the scripted "reality" shows maybe a few more will survive to see another day?

Please use Netflix streaming, HuLu, and the networks own websites to catch up on these great shows. Otherwise your viewership does not count. Seriously, this is one of those times you should not use torrents because we need to show the suits the numbers.

10. Lost Girl
I have heard that this show is huge in the country that bore it. Canada seems to be the place where more adventurous shows are made. This show barely made my list because at times it gets a little too close to having that "girl power" film over it, but not enough to be annoying. It just keeps it from being one of my higher ranking shows on this list. It is still good enough for me to watch every single episode and you should do the same.

9. Haven
More proof that Stephen King is about more than horror, this is a well done drama about a supernatural town with some super natural secrets that create some supernatural issues. Although one of the weaker shows on this top ten list, it is well worth watching.

8. Alphas
What makes this show worth watching is Ryan Cartwright as Gary Bell. Never has a young autistic man been such a center of cool. He gets all the great lines and many times saves the day when no ones expects him too. Without Gary this show would be nothing more than X-Men light. Although this show is well worth checking out, I found out that Syfy used it as an excuse for not even giving another (better sounding) show a chance at all. The pilot for Three Inches instead was aired as a made for tv movie.

7. Sanctuary
Just like with the shows Grimm and Once Upon A Time, this show keeps it interesting with all kinds of different monsters. The show follows the adventures of an organization set up to make sure the non-humans are taken care of, protected, and jailed properly if need be. Although one of the longer running shows of this list, it would be a shame for it to go out with a whimper. If enough people start watching the show, maybe it will be given proper closure.

6. Merlin
Yeah, I am a sucker for dragons, magic, and medieval violence. Sure this version of this tired old tale takes more liberties with the cannon than any before it, but that's what makes it so refreshing. It is truly an original twist and because of that worthy of your time.

5. Fringe
How this show keeps getting renewed is beyond me. The ratings have consistently been losing numbers each season. Like some kind of twisted mash up of The X-Files and Altered States, I am always left thinking it is too much for the common mainstream viewer. The constant drop in viewers might mean I am correct, but if enough people rush to start watching it and telling their friends it might have the chance to make the impact it should.

4. Terra Nova
I know the storylines can be about as weak as the beer at the local punk rock back yard party, but other than that this show is way better than most will admit. Seriously, this is a much better guilty pleasure than any of those weak ass Karaoke based reality show contests. The CGI is pretty awesome. I think the characters are the secret weapon. If you watch every episode from the first to the most recent, you will see some things developing that could turn out to be interesting. It seems that the writers are going for more of a long tail style approach and if given a second season this show will really take off as far as the storyline goes. Just give it a chance!

3. Alcatraz
Many would dismiss this show thinking that it has something to do with some lame history lesson. Nope. If you think Jorge Garcia did a great job playing the fat guy from the show Lost, he does an even more amazing job playing the fat comic book nerd in this show. Seriously. I think he is the main reason I like the show so much. Although close to the personality of his Lost persona, this version is way less pathetic. I never feel sorry for this guy or find him so pathetic that it is annoying. It's like his Lost character but ten times better. My wife watches for Sam Neill. Women are crazy like that.

2. Grimm
This show would do really well on the Syfy channel. Just like with Once Upon A Time, this show is too dark for mainstream. This is of course the exact reason I like it so much. Instead of the same old thing every week, you get a new monster each time. It's like a cop show for uber nerds! Imagine Law And Order, but with more original story lines, and half the people are monsters of every kind.

1. Once Upon A Time
I think the biggest thing hurting this show is that it is way darker than you would think from the title. To be honest I didn't even give the show a chance until I was stuck not being able to do anything except watch tv for a few weeks because of a back injury at work. I gave it a chance and now it tops my list. It is just THAT good! The people that would like a show as dark as this are not giving it a chance and the people who are looking for a more Disney style are turning the show off because it is too dark. If somehow we could get word out to the people who would enjoy a show like this, I think it would survive.

Oh, and I guess I should mention that the rebooted BSG, Emo-Star Galactica has a spin-off called Blood & Chrome. Let's hope it is not as overly emotional and hormonal as the regular BSG was. Yeah, that's right. I said it. No Lorne Greene? Then GTFO! Oh, and Walking Dead? Zombies are the Wal-Mart of sci-fi! Suck it!

Fox Announces Primetime Slate For 2011-2012 Season

Terra Nova (click to enlarge)New York (Monday, May 16, 2011) – Peter Rice, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Networks Group; and Kevin Reilly, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, today unveiled the FOX primetime schedule for the 2011-2012 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at The New Beacon Theatre.

“Nothing impacts culture the way a television show does,” said Rice. “And here at FOX, we have the most talked about, most followed, most creative shows that build connections between viewers and brands.”

Kevin Reilly said, “From razor-sharp comedies to epic dramas to a massive talent competition series, I think we have the goods to continue to be pop culture’s most vibrant platform, as well as the top network.”

Terra Nova (click to enlarge)Epic family adventure series TERRA NOVA, executive-produced by Steven Spielberg (“Saving Private Ryan,” “Jurassic Park”), Peter Chernin, René Echevarria (“Castle,” “The 4400”) and Brannon Braga (“24”) and starring Jason O’Mara (“Life On Mars”) and Stephen Lang (“Avatar”), premieres in the fall. The ambitious series follows an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race.

Also debuting this fall are the half-hour comedies NEW GIRL (working title) and I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (working title). Created by Liz Meriwether (“No Strings Attached”), NEW GIRL (wt) is a new single-camera ensemble comedy starring Zooey Deschanel (“(500) Days of Summer”) as Jess, an offbeat girl who – after a bad breakup – moves in with three single guys and essentially sets a bomb off in their lives. New multi-camera family comedy I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (wt) stars Emmy Award winner Jaime Pressly (“My Name Is Earl”) and Tony Award winner Katie Finneran (“Wonderfalls”) as single moms, life-long friends – and former nerds – who fear their privileged and overly indulged daughters are turning out to be just like the girls who picked on them in high school.

Allen Gregory (click to enlarge)ALLEN GREGORY is the new animated comedy joining the Sunday ANIMATION DOMINATION lineup this fall. Created by and featuring the voice of Jonah Hill (“Get Him to the Greek,” “Superbad”), ALLEN GREGORY is the story of an extremely pretentious 7-year-old about to embark on his greatest challenge yet: leaving the safety of homeschooling and attending elementary school with children his own age.

The two new dramas set to launch in midseason are ALCATRAZ and THE FINDER. From executive producer J.J. Abrams (“Lost,” “Star Trek”) and writer Elizabeth Sarnoff (“Lost”) and starring Sarah Jones (“Sons of Anarchy”), Jorge Garcia (“Lost”) and Sam Neill (“Jurassic Park”), ALCATRAZ is the chilling new thriller centered on America’s most infamous prison and the mysterious return of its most notorious criminals.  Created by Hart Hanson, the executive producer and creator of BONES, THE FINDER is a new procedural drama starring Geoff Stults (“She’s Out of My League”) as an Iraq war vet with an extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable.

Napoleon Dynamite (click to enlarge)Based on the hit cult classic and featuring the voices of the film’s original cast, NAPOLEON DYNAMITE is the new animated comedy premiering in midseason. The series follows the continuing adventures of Napoleon Dynamite, America’s most awesomely awkward teenager, and his quirky family and friends as they navigate life in rural Idaho.

In March FOX will continue the laughs on Tuesdays with a block of four half-hour comedies. The night will feature the critically acclaimed RAISING HOPE, new comedies I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER (wt) and NEW GIRL (wt), as well as one of the additional comedies in development, including FAMILY ALBUM (working title) and LITTLE IN COMMON (working title). Starring Mike O’Malley (GLEE) and Rachael Harris (“The Hangover”), FAMILY ALBUM (wt) is the single-camera comedy that takes a snapshot of the Bronsky clan as they reveal the hilarious stories behind the photo-worthy moments of life. The new family comedy LITTLE IN COMMON (wt), starring Rob Corddry (“Hot Tub Time Machine”) and Kevin Hart (“Death at a Funeral”), follows three diverse middle-class families who become intertwined when their children play on youth sports teams together.

In addition, Kiefer Sutherland, star of the landmark Emmy Award-winning series “24,” returns to FOX in TOUCH, scheduled to go into pilot production this June. Written and created by Tim Kring (“Heroes”), TOUCH centers on the relationship between a single father and his 11-year-old son with special needs. Their relationship and their lives take an extraordinary turn when the gifted son begins to make connections in his life and around the world.

Family Guy (click to enlarge)This spring, FOX will celebrate its 25th birthday with a star-studded look back at the last quarter-century on the FOX 25th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL (working title) airing Sunday, April 1. FOX’s biggest stars from both past and present will make appearances to honor the network that began 25 years ago.

Other FOX series returning in 2011-2012 include: AMERICAN DAD (Season 7), AMERICAN IDOL (Season 11), AMERICA’S MOST WANTED (quarterly specials), BOB’S BURGERS (Season 2), BONES (Season 7), THE CLEVELAND SHOW (Season 3), COPS (Season 24), FAMILY GUY (Season 9), FRINGE (Season 4), GLEE (Season 3), HELL’S KITCHEN (Season 9), HOUSE (Season 8), KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (Season 4), MASTERCHEF (Season 2), MOBBED (specials), RAISING HOPE (Season 2), THE SIMPSONS (Season 23) and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (Season 8). AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, NEW YEAR’S EVE LIVE and TEEN CHOICE 2011 will also return to the FOX schedule. (highlighted shows are what this site will be covering)
