Autopsy Untombs "Born Undead" DVD Trailer

Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, has launched a trailer for its upcoming DVD, Born Undead, on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-wHZwanz3A.

Born Undead charters the birth, death and rebirth of the legendary act, with an extensive documentary conducted with the band members themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years.

The film also documents the band’s long-awaited return to the studio and stage, and includes rehearsals of both new tracks and old classics for Autopsy’s live comeback assault. The trio of 2010 reunion shows are all featured, with all the best classic tracks from Maryland Deathfest, PartySan festival and also Hole in the Sky in Norway, where Chris Reifert, Eric Cutler, and Danny Coralles were joined by Dan Lilker on bass.

With hours of footage, as well as extras including the band’s promo video for “All Tomorrow’s Funerals,” “My Corpse Shall Rise” and more, Born Undead is the ultimate set for all Autopsy and metal maniacs alike.

Kent Mattieu, who had collaborated with the band on its early classic (and often controversial) album covers, provided artwork for the release.

Born Undead will hit stores this August on Peaceville Records.

One of the early breed of US death metal acts, and most respected names in the genre, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco, and released four albums on Peaceville Records - beginning with the classic debut Severed Survival in 1989 - before disbanding in 1995 with members going on to form Abscess.

Autopsy triumphantly and officially returned from the grave after a 15-year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within,’ delighting critics and fans alike.

The band then released its fifth full length, and first since 1995, Macabre Eternal, in 2011.

Stay tuned for more info on Autopsy and Born Undead.

3 Pill Morning Details Label Debut, "Black Tie Love Affair"

Midwest rock quartet, 3 Pill Morning, has revealed details of its upcoming label debut, Black Tie Love Affair, due out July 17th via A2Z / Page 2 Music / eOne. Black Tie Love Affair will look to build on the success of the band’s 2011 independent release, Take Control, which broke into the national spotlight behind the hit single, “Loser,” a mainstay on the Active Rock Top 100 chart for over five months.

Commented vocalist, Jeff Stebbins, “I like the concept of ‘Black Tie Love Affair’ because nothing in life is ever perfect, yet we all dream about the money, the nice suits, the flawless relationship, and are obsessed with that dream. Being in the music biz is the same thing, where we want the packed stadiums, fast cars, a tour bus, but the reality is, to make it in anything, you have to kill yourself to make it happen. ‘Black Tie Love Affair,’ the album, takes you through the reality of life and the fact that things aren’t always perfect.”

For its label debut, 3 Pill Morning sought out the wisdom and expertise of accredited producer/engineer, Jon King (Augustana, Future Leaders of The World, Throwing Gravity, Darling Parade), to help harness the experience gained through years in the industry, and take Black Tie Love Affair to the next level.

“Jon [King] is a multi-talented guy, and the reason we love working with him is the passion he puts into each project,” added Stebbins. “It’s very difficult to find someone that believes in a band whole-heartedly and will work their ass off to make sure success is possible.

“Sound-wise on this album, we basically extended the boundaries of everything we’ve wanted to do in the past. We took the rock band that we’ve always been but made it heavier and hit harder. We also took melody and a pop aspect and really tried to write memorable stuff both lyrically and melodically. Then we threw the X-factor on it with some electronic almost 80’s vibe on some things. A crazy mix, and we hope people will really dig its uniqueness.”

The Black Tie Love Affair track list is…
1. Rain
2. Skin
3. Nothing's Real
4. Loser
5. I Want That For You
6. So Good To Leave
7. Take Control
8. Daddy's Little Girl
9. Revolution
10. Drive By Lies

Black Tie Love Affair was recorded in winter 2012 at King’s, Page 2 Studios, in Nashville, Tenn. Darcy Fray at I Am Thinker supplied cover artwork for the release.

With extensive touring plans in the works in support of the July full-length, and a new single, “Skin,” on the horizon, 3 Pill Morning is primed for a breakout summer.

“From our perspective, ‘Black Tie Love Affair’ is the album that will put 3 Pill Morning on the map to stay. We’ve been a band for a long time and our expectations for this release are light years beyond what we’ve pushed for before. Our plans are simple, tour, tour, tour, and always be writing and pushing to beat anything we’ve done before.”

Catch 3 Pill Morning on the road this spring, playing select dates with Hurt, My Darkest Days and more, as well as newly added shows with Smile Empty Soul.

Korpiklaani Reveals First Details On New Album

Finnish traditional folk metal pioneer, Korpiklaani, has revealed initial details on its upcoming 8th studio record, Manala. The band’s fourth Nuclear Blast Records release will hit stores on August 14th in North America.

Main man, Jonne Järvelä, has issued a statement explaining the concept behind the album’s title.

“Manala is the realm of the dead - the underworld in Finnish mythology. Tuonela, Tuoni, Manala and Mana are used synonymously. This place is best known for its appearance in the Finnish national epic Kalevala, on which many of our new songs are based. In the 16th poem of Kalevala, Väinämöinen, a shamanistic hero travels to Manala to seek for knowledge about the dead. On the journey he meets the ferrywoman (similar to Charon), a girl, Tuonen tytti, or Tuonen piika (Death's maid), who takes him across the river of Tuoni. However, on the isle of Tuoni he is not given the spells he was originally looking for and he barely manages to escape the place. After his return he curses anyone trying to enter the place alive.”

While these mystical Finnish lyrics may sound intimidating to some, don’t worry; Manala will come with a bonus CD, including the whole album with English lyrics.

Stay tuned for further information! In the meantime, check out the song, “Metsälle,” a foretaste of the new compositions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz05MslfJ9k.
