Insomnium Releases Video For "One For Sorrow"

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM return to North America in October for a tour with EPICA, ALESTORM, and SYSTEM DIVIDE! In anticipation of this trek, the band released the video for the title track of their latest album, One for Sorrow. The video is a live recording from the legendary Wacken Open Air and Tuska Open Air festivals.

Vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen comments: "'One for Sorrow' is one of the best songs INSOMNIUM has ever done. It stands out as a unique kind of track and it clearly deserves a video of its own. It's not your typical melodic death metal song but something else: the essence of the song is not its pace or brutality, but its haunting and melancholic atmosphere. And that mood might be much heavier than any blast-beat onslaught you can create...The video for 'One for Sorrow' was filmed at Wacken Open Air and Tuska Open Air this summer. The atmosphere at both these shows was absolutely amazing, and I hope this live video conveys the feeling that we were really enjoying our time on stage...After a busy summer and a short break, it now feels good to get touring again. We've been waiting for five years since our last North American tour and finally we have the chance to keep conquering America. We'll be all around the continent, and it will surely be a great tour for everyone. See you soon!"

INSOMNIUM will be touring in support of their 5th studio album, One for Sorrow, which was released last year to critical acclaim. To purchase the album, please head over to iTunes for a digital copy or CM Distro for CD/LP formats. Read on for a few reviews of INSOMNIUM's One for Sorrow:

"'Melodic death metal' doesn't really sum up quite how good this band is...because this music is fucking EPIC." -- METAL SUCKS.net

"Moored by Ville Friman and Ville Vänni's soaring if plaintive melodies and old-school Gothenburg aggression, 'One For Sorrow' demonstrates what a cold dark night in Finland might be like after getting into a bar brawl over a pint of flat Olvi and losing the affection of the light-haired girl in the corner." -- DECIBEL MAGAZINE

"...while INSOMNIUM have introduced new elements into their music and have taken a few away over the past few albums, one thing remains the same: consistency and quality have always been two key ingredients to INSOMNIUM's music, and 'One For Sorrow' is proof of that yet again." -- ULTIMATE GUITAR.com

"INSOMNIUM finds the ultimate balance of technical prowess and song arrangement with raw emotion and an almost simplistic presentation that pulls you right into a melancholy and ponderous state of mind." -- STEREOKILLER.com

"A defiant stand against hopelessness rather than a surrender to the mire of depression." -- KERRANG (UK)

"Arguably their most expansive effort yet, this is a must for fans and newcomers alike." -- METAL HAMMER (UK)

"INSOMNIUM exemplify how to fuse genuine heaviness with heart-wringing beauty." -- TERRORIZER (UK)
