Enemy Reign: New Track Streaming

Decibelmagazine.com hosts a stream of “Bathed In Flames” from Denver death metal overlords ENEMY REIGN. “Bathed In Flames” comes off the band’s self-issued Between Hell And Oblivion full-length which was recorded at Flatline Audio under the watchful gaze of super-star producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, Martriden, Cobalt et al).

The record offers up 11 tracks of mile-high deathgrind viciousness as well as the debut of vocalist, Stevie Boiser who replaced former throat, Sherwood Webber (Skinless). Skulls ‘n’ Bones praises the band for their impenitently “brutal, throat grabbing vocals and guitars laced with machine gun snare drums,” while Stereokiller opines, “The band, as evidenced by Between Hell And Oblivion, don't rely on parlor tricks and studio magic to sound demonic. They achieve that on their own.”

Comments  guitarist Nick Guenther of the offering: “This album is made for the brutal few. It's dark and unapologetic. During the writing process, we all drew from different influences, which helped keep the material fresh from song to song. We never restrict ourselves to any sub genre or current metal trend. While spirit breaking brutality was our main focus, we made sure to keep that classic and catchy ENEMY REIGN riff-age intact.”

Adds Boiser: “We set out to make something that we would want to listen to, and that's exactly what we did. Between Hell And Oblivion is the next step in our evolution and the apotheosis of what ENEMY REIGN stands for; fast and brutal death metal. If that's what you’re into check it out, I don't think you'll be disappointed.”

Enemy Reign: New Track Premiere

Today GunShyAssassin unveils “Forged From Suffering,” from Denver death metal behemoths ENEMY REIGN. The tune comes off the band’s recently completed Between Hell And Oblivion long player which was recorded at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, Martriden, Cobalt et al) and offers up 11 tracks of mile-high deathgrind brutality as well as the debut of vocalist, Stevie Boiser who replaced former throat, Sherwood Webber (Skinless), last Summer.

Comments drummer Andon Guenther of the song: "I think 'Forged From Suffering' is one of the songs that defines our sound and gives listeners and insight into our personal musical tastes. It's got the d-beat/Discharge/Motorhead influence, coupled with our love for all things grindcore and just good, old fashioned, no-frills death metal. It's also a song we wrote as a follow up to the song ‘Means To A Dead End,’ and the writing approach was very deliberate to incorporate those ideas and give listeners an updated version of that song. It just rocks and that's all we really intended it to do. No more and no less. Moreover, it's a song that blends many genres but doesn't sound like it's a forced issue, and I think that's why it means so much to me on a personal level and that's a skill that ENEMY REIGN has been honing since its inception."

Enemy Reign: Denver Death Metallers Complete New Record

Denver death metal horde, ENEMY REIGN recently completed work on their long-awaited new full-length. Entitled Between Hell And Oblivion, the offering was recorded at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, Martriden, Cobalt et al) and offers up 11 tracks of mile-high deathgrind brutality as well as the debut of vocalist, Stevie Boiser who replaced former throat, Sherwood Webber (Skinless), last Summer.

Commented the band on the output: “Between Hell And Oblivion is a huge milestone for ENEMY REIGN both as a band and for us individually. It means we didn't give up even when we were written off, and accomplishing that feels great. Musically, we set out to refine what we feel our style of death metal is. We aren't pretentious people, and this is not a pretentious album. It's a no nonsense death metal album that pays homage to all the bands we grew up with and love, while keeping an eye on how we can add our own artistic license and create something we could listen to everyday. And we do...so enjoy the reign.”

Selfmadegod Records New Release Update

Poland's The audio-violence professionals at Poland's Selfmadegod Records have confirmed the details of some upcoming releases being prepared for deployment later this year and in the early months of 2012, including ENCOFFINATION and STORMCROW, as well as split releases between CRYPTICUS/SCAREMAKER and MODUS DELICTI/ENEMY REIGN.

Death dealers ENCOFFINATION will plague the Earth with their new opus, O' Hell, Shine In Thy Whited Sepulchres this November. Picking up where they left off with last year's Ritual Ascension Beyond Flesh, this collection of new hymns redefines and magnifies ENCOFFINATION's signature sound; suffocating doom wrapped in the pure stench of death. Based on Ghoat's own experiences of working in the funeral industry, O' Hell, Shine In Thy Whited Sepulchres is a concept album... not in the linear sense, but abstract; from the death of the human form to the sacrifice of flesh into the Earth. The album will be released via Selfmadegod Records this November; stay tuned for an official street date and more info on this anticipated slab of bereavement as it approaches.

Selfmadegod will reissue the long out-of-print sole full-length from infamous Oakland-based crust/death metal outfit STORMCROW in November. The now defunct act stormed onto the scene in 2005 with the release of their debut and only LP, Enslaved In Darkness, followed by a series of brutal split releases with Sanctum, Skaven, Massgrave, Laudanum and Coffins over the next four years. This official worldwide reissue of Enslaved In Darkness will reintroduce the album's cruel Amebix-style crust infused with metallic riffs; a must-have for Bolt Thrower, Axegrinder, and Hellshock devotees. STORMCROW's ominous tone built of thunderous drums, chunky guitar rhythms, intricate time patterns, and intensely dark vocals have helped the band become a well-respected name within the crust and metal scenes. The release also features artwork done by Rob Middleton (Deviated Instinct) and was recorded by Greg Wilkinsen of Brainoil.

Selfmadegod Records has also confirmed two new brutalizing split CD releases for the months ahead.

First up is a split between horror-inspired acts CRYPTICUS and SCAREMAKER. Featuring four new tracks from old-school death metal outfit CRYPTICUS, and their original tales of deadly scarecrows, black magic, and an undead HP Lovecraft, followed by five tracks from death thrashers SCAREMAKER's thrashing death inspired by classic horror films such as Madman, Burnt Offerings, and Trick or Treat. This vicious juncture of two horror/gore-obsessed bands will appropriately feature amazing cover artwork from none other than the mighty Putrid, and is set to drop sometime in late November/early December.

And following in early 2012, a devastating split between Italian serialgrinders MODUS DELICTI and Colorado-based death squad ENEMY REIGN; one Selfmadegod has already dubbed as "the sickest split ever." MODUS DELICTI was formed in 2004 by Clod the Ripper (Septycal Gorge, Blasphemer, etc.) and has since unleashed a trio of splits, an EP and a full-length album, in addition to multiple compilation appearances. The lyrics of these new songs are taken from original letters sent to the police from infamous serial killers including BTK, David Berkowitz and Jack the Ripper, and the music is tighter than ever, as always blending elements of brutal death and grindcore. Previously led by former Skinless vocalist Sherwood Webber, ENEMY REIGN's lineup also features drummer Andon Guenther, co-creator of Sick Drummer Magazine. Formed in Denver in 2008, ENEMY REIGN self-released their debut Means To A Dead End EP in 2008, which brought immediate worldwide acclaim, eventually gaining official European distribution via Neurotic Records. Every moment of these tracks rage with the intense ENEMY REIGN concoction of early 90’s death metal, late 80’s grindcore and brutal East Coast hardcore, and are the last to feature the signature vocals of Webber, who has since left the band.

More specific information on these and other new Selfmadegod Records-style hostility will be announced in the coming weeks.
