Ihsahn: Album Streaming In Its Entirety

Today and throughout the week AOL Music will be streaming Eremita, the latest full-length from former Emperor mastermind IHSAHN, in its entirety! Scheduled to drop tomorrow via Candlelight Records, the nine-track masterwork was recorded and produced at Telemark’s Ivory Shoulder Studios, with additional tracking completed at Notodden’s Juke Joint Studio and Seattle’s Envisage Audio, and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth) at Fascination Street Studios in Orebo, Sweden.

In an 8/10 review Decibel assures: “…those into prime prog metal, here’s one of your favorite albums of 2012,” and Guitar World notes: “… IHSAHN proves yet again that he is one of the most influential, progressive and enduring musicians to emerge out of the classic Norwegian black metal scene.” MetalSucks: shares the sentiment proclaiming: “IHSAHN just keeps getting better and better with every album he releases. He’s really come into his own as one of the most talented musicians and songwriters in all of metal, and his distinct, singular sound has come a long way from his days in Emperor,” while About.com boasts in a 4.5/5 review: “…one of the musical highlights of this year.”

Alongside IHSAHN, the mammoth undertaking features performances from drummer Tobias Ornes Andersen (Leprous), saxophonist Jorgen Munkeby (Shining – Norway), guitarist Jeff Loomis (ex-Nevermore), and vocalists Devin Townsend, Einar Solberg (Leprous), and Heidi S. Tveitan (Star of Ash).

Jeff Loomis Releases Playthrough Video For "Requiem For The Living"

JEFF LOOMIS has released a guitar playthrough video for the track "Requiem For The Living". Featuring guest soloist Attila Voros, "Requiem For The Living" can be found on the forthcoming album, Plains Of Oblivion,  which will be out on April 10th in North America and April 9th in Europe. Jeff Loomis Premieres New Song Featuring Ihsahn

JEFF LOOMIS has teamed up with Decibel Magazine to premiere his new song " Surrender" featuring IHSAHN of black metal band EMPEROR.  "Surrender" appears on the upcoming album, Plains Of Oblivion that will be out on April 10 in North America and April 9 in Europe.  The track was featured on Full Metal Jackie's syndicated radio show this past weekend, and is now available on Decibel Magazine's Deciblog.

JEFF LOOMIS is honored to have IHSAHN as a guest on the record:  "At first I thought Christine Rhoades would be the only guest singer on the record, but then this one song started coming together, it's pretty brutal. I've always wanted to do really, really heavy music and after hearing this, both Aaron and myself thought we needed some crazy, sick singer on it. We just sat around tossing names out for a bit, nothing really was sticking and then Aaron says, 'I got it ... Ihsahn' and it was one of those moments where you knew that was the answer all along, it just hadn't been unlocked in your mind yet. Anyway, a few short emails back and forth and we had his vocal track in. It came out amazing. I can't wait for you to hear it. Ihsahn, thanks again, it's an honor to have you on my record."

IHSAHN added: "I was both surprised and honored when Jeff asked me to sing on one of the songs for his upcoming album. He sent me a killer track, so it was easy to get inspiration for both words and vocal ideas, and I think it came out really well. Jeff is an amazing musician and I'm really looking forward to hearing the final album. Also, in the collaborative spirit, I got him to lay down a solo for my own new album."

Jeff Loomis Reveals Guest Vocalist On Upcoming Album

Legendary guitarist JEFF LOOMIS has been in the studio the last few months working on his highly anticipated sophomore solo album, to be released later this year.  Since entering the studio, LOOMIS has revealed a number of notable guests that will be appearing on the release and now, LOOMIS announces the newest special guest: IHSAHN, formerly of Norwegian black metal band EMPEROR and current solo artist.

Ihsahn Confirmed For Progpower Usa

Click to enlargeFormer Emperor vocalist/guitarist IHSAHN will make his first American solo appearance at ProgPower USA, scheduled September 14-17 at Center Stage in Atlanta. Confirmed by festival organizer Glenn Harveston, IHSAHN replaces Arcturus on the Friday evening lineup of the popular music festival. Tickets are nearly sold out; fans are encouraged to buy tickets now.

IHSAHN comments, "I am very excited to get the opportunity to play at ProgPower. My backing band, Leprous, played the festival last year and had a fantastic time. Given the nature of my solo-material, I believe this festival will be a great place to present it live.  I have already performed at several festivals/shows in Europe in 2009/2010 and will do a few more this year.”

IHSAHN’s performance is expected to include selections from all three solo albums – The Adversary (2006), Angl (2008) and his most recent, After (2010). "As compelling as Emperor's best,” says Decibel in a review of After in their February 2010 issue. Continuing, the magazine notes, “IHSAHN sounds as fresh as he did fifteen years ago, but with the hindsight of a grown man." Revolver called the album, "brimming with classical, goth, prog, and eighties-metal passages."

After completes IHSAHN’s planned trilogy of initial recordings. The album showcases the Norwegian icon with drummer Asgeir Mickelson (Spiral Architect), bassist Lars K. NorbergSpiral Architect), and saxophonist Jorgen Munkeby (Shining). Currently at work on his fourth album, IHSAHN confirms he is eighty percent done with the songwriting and is planning for a mid-2012 release. Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy) Award Nominee IHSAHN (born Vegard Tveitan) began playing music at a very early age. As a teenager, his friendship with Tomas Haugen (a.k.a. Samoth) would trigger the start of his music career -- one that to date includes over fifty individual recordings, five high-profile Emperor European tours (the band reaching US shores on only three occasions) and the respect of fans and peers worldwide. In mid-2009, IHSAHN gave his first live performance in Oslo supporting Opeth.
