Godhunter: Tormented Tucson Quintet On The Warpath In 2012

Like an encompassing dust storm full of fire and broken whiskey bottles and expended weed smoke, Tucson, Arizona's GODHUNTER are preparing to suffocate the planet with their devastating hymns this year.

Through diehard D.I.Y. ethics and self-promotion, GODHUNTER have preyed upon the weak-minded scenesters and have defied pigeonholing genre classifications through a savage amalgamation of sheer heaviness, both live and through recorded proof via several EPs, split releases and compilation inclusions since their 2009 formation. All five members of the band are heavily involved in the local scene and hail from other previous and current acts across the region, yet bring their most ferocious dynamics to life in GODHUNTER; the result is a sludge-bred sub-hardcore blend of caustic riffery laced with multiple scathing vocal approaches.

GODHUNTER's latest output, the 2011-released Wolves, showcases the band's most crushing material to date, and while considered by the band to be an EP, the beast clocks in with over 32-minutes of material.

Stream Wolves in its entirety now at GODHUNTER's Bandcamp page.

With local and regional touring a constant part of the GODHUNTER mission of intent, the band have supported national acts including St. Vitus, Crowbar, The Sword, Red Fang, Early Graves, The Atlas Moth, Intronaut and Black Tusk in addition to countless indie acts. 2012 will bring much more touring to the table for the band as new live assaults are announced over the coming months. The band will also record/release several other indie releases over the coming months before investing time into a brand new full-length late in the year.

Stay tuned; the coming months will be filled with news of GODHUNTER's ongoing rapture...

Rising: Irish Tour And European Festival Run Kicks Off Next Week

Danish sludge metallers RISING are preparing for a tour across Ireland and Northern Ireland, on their way to tackle festivals in Denmark and Sweden later this month.

Set to embark on June 6th, RISING will storm four Irish cities before their performances at Copenhell Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark with the likes of Slayer, Mastodon, Anthrax, Immortal, Meshuggah and tons more, followed immediately by Hultsfred Festival in Hultsfred, Sweden with an eclectic lineup including The Cure, The Stone Roses, The XX, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators and countless others.

Strong Intention: Exclusive Track Premiere

Today Decibel Magazine unveils the sadistic sounds of “3rd Space Guerrilla Generator,” from Maryland powerviolence miscreants STRONG INTENTION. The track comes off the band’s soon-to-be-unleashed Razorblade Express EP and features guest vocals by Eyehategod vocalist/wordsmith Mike Williams.

Comments STRONG INTENTION’s founding frontman Zac Ohler of the tune:The song was written as a quick blast of venom directed towards the ongoing concrete sprawl and urban development around the town I was living in. While the interior of the city and its neighborhoods fell into ruin, crime and squalor, the businessmen were riding the wave of the housing and commercial building boom at the beginning of the decade with no sense of intelligent city planning, destroying miles and miles of green space around the city I once knew.”

Witness “3rd Space Guerrilla Generator” HERE.

Razorblade Express will be released via PATAC Records on June 1, 2012 with the first pressing limited to just 500 copies. This isn’t one to sleep on! In addition, Razorblade Express features bass work by Cattle Decapitation’s Derek Engemann. Commends About.com in a recent review of the EP: “STRONG INTENTION’s major strength is the variety of speeds on most tracks as they tend to vary back and forth and unfurl a major bit of chaos on the listener. It is with these attributes that the listener is constantly hit with something new, whether it be slow blues laden sludge or over the top hardcore.”

In related news, STRONG INTENTION will bring their sonic menace to the stage. The live takeover will begin with a warm-up show opening for Marduk and 1349 on June 2 in Baltimore. From there the band will join fellow grind heathens Phobia for the East Coast Filth Tour 2012 set to commence June 3 in Detroit. STRONG INTENTION will be joined by Misery Index/Pig Destroyer drummer Adam Jarvis for the short run of shows.

Six Feet Under: First Week Chart Numbers Revealed

Undead, the latest installment of audio brutality from death metal deviants SIX FEET UNDER, entered the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #5 upon its first week of release! In addition, Undead landed at at #30 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart, #22 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums Chart, #14 Billboard Top Current Albums Chart and #183 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.

In Canada, the record ranked in at #34 on the Hard Music Chart, #199 on the Top 200 Current Albums Chart, #167 on the iTunes Top 200 Chart, #35 on the iTunes Rock Chart and #3 on the iTunes Metal Chart. Undead reaped additional praise in Germany entering the German Media Market/Saturn Album Charts at #56 and the German Media Control Trend Charts at #40.

Comments vocalist/death metal maverick Chris Barnes: “Thank you to all of our fans for embracing our new album Undead with such ravenous fervor! And to all at Metal Blade Records for their belief in the band all these years and all the hard work of everyone at the label! This marks the first time in SIX FEET UNDER’s career, as well as my own, that we have reached Billboard’s Top 200. It is proof positive that underground music and death metal is not dead and is still a force to be dealt with. A very special thanks to the decades of hate that spawned the focus that went into this album. Cheers! It's 4:20, motherfucker!”

Crowned “the best thing SFU have recorded since Maximum Violence,” by Decibel, “an album on which this new level of musicianship adds value without tarnishing SIX FEET UNDER’s legacy of brutality,” by Outburn and simply a “kickass SIX FEET UNDER record,” by Revolver,  Undead was unleashed to North American ears via Metal Blade on May 22 and offers an updated lineup of Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira).

In conjunction with the record’s release, SIX FEET UNDER will embark on a near three-week run of live ceremonies next week. The 18 Nights Of Blood Tour will begin in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8. The band will be joined by newly recruited rhythm guitarist Ola Englund who takes the place of Rob Arnold. Support will be provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation.

“Ugly riffs slip and slide amidst the primordial ooze summoned forth by Chris’ guttural incantations, and the drums flail in the background like some tentacle monstrosity from beyond; this is truly an unearthly noise and glorious in its heaving absurdity.” — Terrorizer Magazine

“Six Feet Under gives meat-and-potatoes death metal a nice kick in the behind.” – Blistering

“What makes Undead work is a balance between the tooth grinding intensity of its blasts and the bone-strewn muck of its down-tempo bits.” — MetalSucks

“…powerful, musical and yet distinctly death metal.” — PitRiff

“…one of the world’s biggest death metal acts is still a commanding force of sonic destruction.” — PureGrainAudio

Absu Forced To Cancel Chaos In Tejas Performance

Mythological occult metal artisans ABSU regretfully announce the cancellation of their set at this weekend's Chaos In Tejas festivities, where they were confirmed to headline the show at Red 7 this Saturday with support from Terrorism, Loss, Morbosidad, Ares Kingdom and Black Witchery.

.

Immediately following their bludgeoning performance at the opening night of this year's sweltering installment of Maryland Deathfest this past Thursday night, ABSU drummer/vocalist Proscriptor had to rush back to Texas due to a knee infection. Following two instantaneous surgeries, Proscriptor will be in good health and back to 110% efficiency by the mid portion of June, but not in time to perform as scheduled on Saturday night.

This cancellation is disheartening to the band for the moment, as they were fully planning on leveling all in earshot at the performance this weekend; however, this procedure will now ensure that the band will be fully operational for the previously mentioned forthcoming ABSU live assaults throughout North and South America, which are being confirmed now to be announced in the weeks just ahead. Stay tuned to be inundated with new information on said events.
