Testament On The Cover Of Decibel Magazine!

“Numerical groupings be damned, perennial underdogs TESTAMENT are the best thrash band still standing.” (Decibel Magazine)

Bay Area thrash metal legends TESTAMENT, are featured on the cover of the latest issue of Decibel Magazine! The interview discusses Dark Roots of Earth, the highly anticipated 10th studio album from TESTAMENT, out now on Nuclear Blast Records. Copies of the magazine can be purchased here: http://store.decibelmagazine.com/collections/back-issues/products/september-2012-095.

The following are excerpts from the interview:
“We’ve always written different records, tried to come up with something new, the ultimate song or whatever,” Billy (note: Chuck Billy – Vocals) continues, speaking to the next battle he and the band are waging. “It’s an endless thing, trying to come up with songs you’re proud of and that the fans like. This record is a different thing, and the level of playing and confidence is different. We used to be more self-conscious about what people thought about ballads and whatnot. This record we have a ballad (‘Cold Embrace’), the title track is heavy, slower and sludgy, and, of course, there are the blast beats.”

“When you do a record after being around this long, you have to be careful,” concludes Peterson (note: Eric Peterson – Guitar) . “This kind of music has been done so many different times and ways, after a while some bands go, ‘Let’s do something totally different. Let’s wear suits. Let’s cut our hair. Let’s smoke cigars. Let’s be a different band and see if it sticks,’” he says with a knowing chuckle. “For us, we just try to get over the fact that we’re playing the same sort of style because that’s what people want to hear. They’re buying a TESTAMENT record, they want to hear a TESTAMENT record. It’s a little bit of both; you try to stay the same, but be different.”

Dying Fetus Inducted Into Decibel Magazine's Hall Of Fame

With only weeks left before the release of their highly anticipated new album Reign Supreme, DYING FETUS have received the honor of being inducted into Decibel Magazine's "Hall of Fame" for their classic album Destroy the Opposition, which was released in 2000 on Relapse Records. The issue with this special retrospective will be on newsstands at the end of the week and can be ordered directly HERE.

Reign Supreme will be released June 19th on Relapse Records and is available for pre-order HERE. Reign Supreme features nine tracks and is a "return to roots" with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works.  Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.

The band recently completed work on a video for the song "Second Skin". The video was directed by Jakob Arevarn, who has also shot videos for Draconian, Vildhjarta and Carnal Forge. Look for the video to be premiered in the coming weeks.

DYING FETUS are offering a free download of the track "Subjected to a Beating" on their Bandcamp Page HERE.

Alternative Press is hosting a stream of the song "From Womb to Waste" HERE.

DYING FETUS will be on tour all summer long starting with the "18 Nights of Blood Tour" in North America with label mates REVOCATION and Six Feet Under. They will also be on a headlining European tour which includes appearances at the "Copenhell Festival" in Copenhagen, Denmark, "Hell Fest" in Clisson, France, the "With Full Force" festival in Roitzschjora, Germany, "Sevilla Rock Festival" in Sevilla, Spain and the "Getaway Rock Fest" in Gävle, Sweden.

Paradise Lost's Decibel Magazine Cover Story Now Available

As torchbearers of the gothic/doom metal scene, PARADISE LOST has seen much success overseas in Europe, but they have yet to break into the mainstream in the States, despite having influenced countless bands across metal's many sub-genres. To celebrate their influential role in the scene and to welcome the release of their new album, Tragic Idol, Decibel Magazine is featuring PARADISE LOST, "metal's most underrated band", as the cover story for their June issue that's available on newsstands today. Fans can also purchase this tribute to the "Shadow Kings" online in Decibel's webstore.

In this special issue, Decibel subscribers will also receive the previously announced PARADISE LOST gold-on-black flexi disc for the exclusive b-side "The Last Fallen Saviour". To listen to the track, head over to Metal Sucks.net.

If you still haven't heard PARADISE LOST's Tragic Idol yet, please visit Decibel Magazine.com for the exclusive album stream! To purchase the album, head over to CM Distro for various CD/vinyl formats, plus iTunes or Amazon for a digital copy.

Read on to find out what press worldwide have to say about PARADISE LOST's critically-acclaimed new album:

"'Worth Fighting For', 'To the Darkness', 'The Glorious End' and the stunning title track are halcyon days tunes, when the only things that mattered were Big Gulps, a Sony CD Walkman (with car adapter) and the music of change...'Tragic Idol' won't sway the 40,000+ morons who bought METALLICA's 'Beyond Magnetic' EP into believing in PARADISE LOST, but for the 40+ Painless--four of which hold residency at Decibel--still kicking around the States, it's a firm symbol that there's ample life left." -- DECIBEL MAGAZINE (US)

"Nearly 25 years into their career, PARADISE LOST demonstrate with 'Tragic Idol' that 13 (as in albums) can be a particularly exquisite number...the music only gets better as you dig deeper." -- EXCLAIM! (CA)

"Another excellent PARADISE LOST record." -- METAL SUCKS.net (US)

"As the band near the 25-year mark in their storied career, the stark change in music direction from their early days of doom-laden death metal to the synth-metal of 'Host' to today's melodic brand of gothic metal tends to obscure the fact that they've been one of the most consistent acts in heavy music since the late Eighties...the melodies that can be found on 'Tragic Idol' are far more plaintive than soaring, and in places even downright sinister." -- GUITAR WORLD.com (US)

"'PARADISE LOST fans have plenty to look forward to from this album, and it's got cross-genre appeal due to the range of influences readily heard in the music." -- METAL UNDERGROUND.com (US)

"'Tragic Idol'is easily the best that PARADISE LOST have sounded since the early-to-mid-nineties...PARADISE LOST's triumphant return to yesteryear is finally upon us. And oh what a glorious return it is." -- THE NEW REVIEW.net (US)

"PARADISE LOST are incapable of making anything mediocre." -- SPUTNIK MUSIC.com (US)

"...throbs with the vehement class we've come to expect." -- KERRANG (UK)

"...it's great to have these waylaid pioneers back doing what they do best." -- METAL HAMMER (UK)

"The band never ever presented their excellence better than today." -- ROCK HARD (GER)

"This record has some of the most impressive songs they ever wrote." -- REVOLVER (SPAIN)

"This album reaches their most ambitious goal." -- METAL HAMMER (ITALY)

"PARADISE LOST fans couldn't wish for a better album than 'Tragic Idol'." -- AARDSCHOK (NL)

"PARADISE LOST is returning to their roots with an album that defines their original sound while sounding fresh and very inspired!" -- HARD ROCK MAG (FRANCE)
