Cynthesis: California Prog Outfit Release A Most Trivial Pursuit

ReEvolution, the glorious second full-length from Pleasanton, California-based progressive metal supergroup CYNTHESIS, is now less than a week from release, the album to hit stores worldwide this Tuesday, June 4th, via Sensory Records.

In advance of the release of ReEvolution, today prog/metal outlet Sea Of Tranquility has hosted a stream of the album’s fourth epic track, "A Most Trivial Pursuit," musically containing some of the most somber passages of the album, and some of the storyline’s most pivotal elements.

Listen to "A Most Trivial Pursuit" now AT THIS LOCATION.

The album’s fifth track “Persistence Of Visions” is also streaming via Metal Underground RIGHT HERE.

CYNTHESIS reunites three of the original members of Zero Hour -- brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton (guitars and bass, respectively, both also of Abnormal Thought Patterns) and vocalist Erik Rosvold, along with Enchant drummer Sean Flanagan. Their first album DeEvolution began a dystopian trilogy of releases, and now the middle installment of the series is set for release with ReEvolution, the engaging storylines of this band’s magnificent anthems as rich as the complex musical arrangements which carry the plot. Mixed and co-produced by Forrester Savell and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side, ReEvolution boasts forty-five minutes of some of the most imaginative progressive metal of the year. Preorders for the album can be placed here.

"Their music can be equally elusive and engaging, sparking both curiosity and satisfaction. Perhaps these are the best elements of any musical work, progressive rock or not. Recommended. 4/5" - Dangerdog Music Reviews

“ReEvolution is clean, powerful and straight forward. It’s a progressive head-trip without needing any added sound clips or special effects, save for the layers that give the album its thick, but not overbearing, atmosphere.” - Metal Riot

"... the overall sound of the music will definitely be of interest to fans of prog bands like Suspyre and Dream Theater, and it’s even possible to pick out some interesting Pink Floyd influences from time to time." - Metal Underground

"Musically, this album flows from gentle acoustic passages to more chaotic guitar riffs and intricate drumming.  The album doesn’t feel like just a collection of songs, but a 45 minute long composition that enhances the story." - We Love Metal

Cynthesis: Prog Metal Troupe Releases Track From New Album

As Pleasanton, California-based prog metal superforce CYNTHESIS prepares to release ReEvolution -- the second full-length in their ongoing trilogy of albums --  the first full single from the album has been released.

The fifth of the ReEvolution’s seven tracks, the nine minute epic “Persistence Of Visions” bears some of the most extroverted elements on the entire album, its clean, calm intro slowly expanding and building into a dark, brooding movement that eventually snaps, allowing the thunderous and technical prowess of each member of CYNTHESIS’ individual talents to explode and expose some of the pinnacle moments of the record.

Explore the realms of “Persistence Of Visions” through an exclusive premiere of the track via Metal Underground RIGHT HERE.

Mixed and co-produced by Forrester Savell and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side, ReEvolution boasts nearly forty-five minutes of some of the most creative and imaginative progressive metal likely to be released this year. Reuniting three of the original members of aggressive/progressive metal kingpins Zero Hour -- brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton (guitars and bass, respectively, both also of Abnormal Thought Patterns) and vocalist Erik Rosvold, along with Enchant drummer Sean Flanagan -- with CYNTHESIS the members’ ambitious technical prowess blends seamlessly and organically into the grand atmospheres and melodic passages enveloping their approach, demonstrates the more melodic side of Jasun Tipton’s songwriting. Their debut album DeEvolution began the trilogy in April of 2011, and now the middle installment is ready to be unleashed. The ReEvolution chapter tells the story of the shaman, the series’ central character, being sent out to gather more slaves. He comes across a tribe and senses a light within them that triggers a distant memory of his past, making him realize that this is the original tribe he was taken from. He brings them back to the city and encounters what was done to the population and sets them free.

ReEvolution will see release via Sensory on June 4th; preorders for the album can be placed here.

Cynthesis: Supergroup To Release Second Part Of Dystopian Trilogy

Sensory Records this week confirms the full details for the pending second album from Pleasanton, California-based progressive metal outfit CYNTHESIS, as the final parts to this new opus have fallen into place.

CYNTHESIS reunites three of the original members of top-tier extreme progressive band Zero Hour -- brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton (guitars and bass, respectively, both also of Abnormal Thought Patterns) and vocalist Erik Rosvold, along with Enchant drummer Sean Flanagan. While maintaining much of the tech/metal influence of Zero Hour, with CYNTHESIS the members’ ambitious technical prowess blends seamlessly and organically into the grand atmospheres and melodic passages enveloping their approach, demonstrates the more melodic side of Jasun Tipton’s songwriting.

Formed in 2010, CYNTHESIS released their massive debut album DeEvolution through Sensory in April of 2011, causing celebration within the prog community with these members aligning, and in some cases realigning, their talents. Following another massive undertaking and countless hours of constructing and executing this new album, now two years later, the middle part of the dystopian trilogy is about to see the light of day as ReEvolution. A shaman, the central character of the series, is sent out to gather more slaves. He comes across a tribe and senses a light within them that triggers a distant memory of his past, making him realize that this is the original tribe he was taken from. He brings them back to the city and encounters what was done to the population and sets them free.

Mixed and co-produced by Forrester Savell and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side, with nearly forty-five minutes of some of the most creative and imaginative progressive metal likely to be released this year, ReEvolution will see release via Sensory on June 4th; preorders for the album can be placed here. Cynthesis: The Underdogs Of Prog?

click to enlargeBetween CYNTHESIS, Zero Hour, Death Machine, and the Jasun Tipton solo releases, the Tipton brothers have been releasing amazing Prog-Metal under the radar of most of the Prog-Metal fans since the early 90's. Why has this band never been able to rise to the level of Dream Theater, Queensrÿche, Symphony X, or even Porcupine Tree? Only those fans can answer that question. All I know is that RockMyMonkey has been spewing their praises for a very long time.

DeEvolution, the anticipated debut full-length from CYNTHESIS, was released via Sensory Records on April 19th, 2011.

A label priority for Sensory this year, the magnificent DeEvolution tells the story of an elite group of leaders from a heavily industrialized city who find, brainwash and then exploit an indigenous tribes' shaman, believing he would be the perfect supreme leader. By propping him up as possessing all the answers to society's ills, the elites use him in order to gain and keep more control over the masses in order to influence the masses via religion, media, consumerism and government.

1. The Man Without Skin
2. Incision
3. Divided Day
4. Shallow World
5. Profits Of Disaster
6. The Edifice Grin
7. Twilight
8. A Song Of Unrest

CYNTHESIS reunites three original members of progressive metal heroes Zero Hour -- founding twin brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton and original vocalist Erik Rosvold -- for the first time on a recording since their heralded albums The Towers of Avarice [2001] and Metamorphosis [2003], both considered landmark releases in the progressive metal community. DeEvolution was recorded and produced in 2010 by Dino Alden (Marty Friedman, Tony MacAlpine, Vinnie Moore, Zero Hour), and while trademark styles of both the Tipton Brothers and Rosvold shine heavily throughout the release, over the course of eight epic anthems, it is very clear by more relaxed pace and epic story of DeEvolution that this is NOT a new Zero Hour album.
