The Contortionist Shoot Two Music Videos

THE CONTORTIONIST shot a music video over this past weekend for the tracks "Casualty" and "Dreaming Schematics" with directing team KOTK Productions in North Carolina.

The news comes on the heels of a recently announced headlining tour with JEFF LOOMIS presented by METALSUCKS with additional sponsorship from Royal Family Clothing and Guitar World Magazine. Kicking off in Indianapolis, IN, dates will run through July and August. Support will come from CHIMP SPANNER on their debut US tour and 7 HORNS 7 EYES. The band will also be featured on a handful of dates in this years SUMMER SLAUGHTER TOUR.
    

THE CONTORTIONIST will release their new record "Intrinsic" on July 17th, 2012 via eOne/Good Fight Music. "On 'Intrinsic', we've found ourselves focusing on the songwriting as well as the new textures and melody we're striving for. Each song has its own identity and flow, but the album is fun to listen through in order cause of the conceptual ties," says vocalist / keyboardist Jonathan Carpenter.

Produced and recorded by Eyal Levi (DAATH, JOB FOR A COWBOY) and Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, DEVILDRIVER) at Audiohammer Studios, this is by far the band's most far reaching material to date.

THE CONTORTIONIST broke onto the scene a few years ago and has quickly earned the title as one of the most musically inclined bands in the progressive metal genre.

In their brief but accomplished career, the band has supported a wide variety of acts including PERIPHERY, ALL SHALL PERISH, THE ACACIA STRAIN as well as headlining the inaugural edition of the Summer Slaughter Survivors Tour in 2011.

Jeff Loomis Begins Working On New Music

This July, guitar wizard JEFF LOOMIS will head out on the "Intrinsic 2012" Tour.  Presented by MetalSucks.net, the run will take JEFF LOOMIS throughout North America alongside THE CONTORTIONIST, CHIMP SPANNER and label-mates 7 HORNS 7 EYES.  In addition, JEFF LOOMIS will play four headlining dates featuring 7 EYES 7 HORNS as direct support.  A full list of dates can be seen below.

Not only has JEFF LOOMIS been preparing for this tour, but he has also been working on new material. According to Joe Nurre, the touring guitarist and vocalist in Jeff Loomis' band, "Jeff and I have collaborated musically on two of the songs, and I have lyrics and vocals written for the three."  Touring drummer Anup Sastry will be programming the drums, and producer Aaron Smith will be recording and mixing.

While residing in Wisconsin as a teenager, the former Nevermore guitarist played in a few death metal bands, and with these tracks, Loomis is going back to his roots.  "The vocals will be more aggressive and death metal-like," Nurre explains.  There are plans to release the recordings digitally sometime in July, with samples of songs to be available beforehand.  Nurre adds, "We will be playing some of these songs on our upcoming tour with The Contortionist.
