Black Tusk: Reveal New EP Title - Tour Kicks Off This Weekend

Savannah, GA's BLACK TUSK have completed recording their upcoming EP which is scheduled to be released later this Spring via Relapse Records.  The EP was recorded with producer Phillip Cope (Kylesa, Baroness) at the Jam Room in Columbia, SC. Today BLACK TUSK has revealed the EP's title as "Tend No Wounds". More information including artwork and tracklisting will be revealed in the coming weeks.

The band is getting ready to hit the road with Kvelertak and Cancer Bats. Before the tour begins BLACK TUSK will be playing two headline gigs April 19^th and 20^th. The tour supporting Kvlertak runs from April 22^nd in Detroit, MI through May 25^th in Raleigh, NC

Relapse Records Announces SXSW Showcase Set Times

Renowned independent heavy music label, Relapse Records, has teamed up with Austin, TX's premiere heavy music festival, Chaos in Tejas, to put together an unforgettable night of auditory madness at this year's SXSW Festival in Austin, TX.  The official showcase will feature a stage curated by each group and will take place at Red 7 on Saturday March 16th from 8 PM to 2 AM.  The showcase will be free to all SXSW badge and wristband holders and open to the general public on a first come first serve basis.  Further details on the showcase will be available via the Red 7 website at this location.   

The Relapse Records stage will be headlined by Savannah, GA's sludge-rock warriors Black Tusk and feature sets from Relapse label-mates Royal Thunder, ASG, Howl, Inter Arma, and Call of the Void.  
   
The Chaos In Tejas stage will be headlined by New Orleans bounce superstar Big Freedia and include performances from a diverse lineup including Antwon, Iron Lung, Power Trip, Merchandise, Parquet Courts and the Novice.  
   
Relapse Records formed in 1990 and has released albums from a wide array of artists over the past 23 years including Mastodon, Red Fang, Baroness, Amorphis, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Suffocation, Neurosis, Dying Fetus and many more.  The label recently released a 20 song sampler in tribute to Pat Egan, their longtime Director of Sales, who tragically passed away on Monday February 18th of pneumonia.  The sampler is available for purchase here with all proceeds benefitting his daughter's college fund.

Black Tusk Begin Work On New EP

Savannah, GA's BLACK TUSK have commenced work on new material for their upcoming EP. The EP is scheduled to be released later this Spring via Relapse Records. Drummer James May checked to comment on the progress of the release:

"This new release is a mean one. It reminds me of a new twist on an old days BLACK TUSK sound. We got back together with Jay and Phillip Cope to turn this out with some of that earlier, brutal sound you might have heard back in the beginning albums. We figured it was about time to see what the old gang could do years later."

The band will be taking a break from the studio in March for a short run of headline dates, followed up by a run of shows with Today is the Day, KEN Mode and Fight Amp. The tour begins March 1^st in Spartanburg, SC and runs through April 7^th in Chicago, IL. A complete list of dates can be found below.

BLACK TUSK is scheduled to appear at this year's SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX. Details and location will be announced shortly.   Additionally BLACK TUSK are working with UnBlock the Rock (UBTR), an independent grassroots movement, working tirelessly to bring Cuban metal band Escape to the United States in March for this year's SXSW Music Festival and Conference in Austin, Texas to perform the first Cuban heavy metal concert on U.S. soil. To help UBTR quickly raise funds over the next few weeks to cover Escape's travel and visa costs to SXSW, BLACK TUSK donated a track to The Red Album, UBTR's first compilation CD now available by donation at www.unblocktherock.com.

Visionary extreme metal outfit TODAY IS THE DAY confirms the expansion of their rigorous North American tour, announcing a torrent of additional cities to fall under their audio siege this Spring.

With new shows booked in many new US cities and a surge of newly-confirmed dates throughout Canada, TODAY IS THE DAY also announces additional support from hardcore henchmen Ringworm, and math/sludge metal practitioners Keelhaul on several dates. This comes following the previous announcement confirming support from KEN Mode and Fight Amp on the entire tour, as well as regional support from Black Tusk and others, the voyage to include performances at this year’s ToneDeaf Touring SXSW showcase alongside Orange Goblin, Mondo Generator and more.

TODAY IS THE DAY celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year. Led by visionary frontman Steve Austin, TITD’s violent but psychedelic attack has received worldwide acclaim since their 1993 debut, Supernova. Nine studio albums have been released through Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse and others, the band's ever-morphing lineup featuring notable musicians including Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon. Black Tusk To Tour With Red Fang This Fall

In addition to their North American headline tour scheduled to begin this October, Savannah, Georgia's BLACK TUSK will be hitting the road serving as direct support to label mates Red Fang.  This run will kick off October 26th in Sacramento, CA and run through November 21st in Boise, ID.  

 The band cannot wait to hit the road with Red Fang again:
