Autopsy Unleashes Over Two Decades Of Death Metal

Born Undead, the extensive documentary of the birth, death and rebirth of Bay Area death metal pioneer, Autopsy, has been exhumed from the grave, and is now available via Peaceville Records. The unprecedented look into the blood and guts of one of death metal’s great innovators, plus live footage from Maryland Deathfest, PartySan festival and Hole in the Sky in Norway can be ordered online at: https://www.burningshed.com/store/peaceville/product/225/3719/.

The extensive DVD includes a documentary conducted with the band members themselves, as they describe how the beast came to be, and the impact their music has had on the metal world over a span of more than 20 years.

The film also documents the band’s long-awaited return to the studio and stage, and includes rehearsals of both new tracks and old classics for Autopsy’s live comeback assault.

With hours of footage, as well as extras including the band’s promo video for “All Tomorrow’s Funerals,” “My Corpse Shall Rise” and more, Born Undead is the ultimate set for all Autopsy and metal maniacs alike. “[No] devoted fan of the genre should be caught (un)dead without it.” - FEARnet

Kent Mattieu, who had collaborated with the band on its early classic (and often controversial) album covers, provided artwork for the release.

A trailer for the upcoming release can be seen on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-wHZwanz3A.

One of the early breed of US death metal acts, and most respected names in the genre, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco, and released four albums on Peaceville Records - beginning with the classic debut Severed Survival in 1989 - before disbanding in 1995 with members going on to form Abscess.

Autopsy triumphantly and officially returned from the grave after a 15-year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within,’ delighting critics and fans alike.

The band then released its fifth full length, and first since 1995, Macabre Eternal, in 2011.

Stay tuned for more info on Autopsy and Born Undead.

Slaughter By The Water 3 To Stream Main Stage Performances

Slaughter By The Water 3 is pleased to announce that USTREAM.tv will be joining up to stream the festival live from the USS Hornet! Fans can watch the main stage performances at the festival on USTREAM.tv for just a one-time payment of $1.99. The stream will be located here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sbtw3.

“I want to express how extremely happy I am. After all of the time, effort and love that we put into the festival last year, 23,000 people watched the festival online via USTREAM.tv,” states Slaughter By The Water organizer Nicholas Gomez. “This year, to let the world share in this uniquely historic annual event with us just as they did before, we’re pleased to be teaming up with UStream once again!”

“The purpose for the live stream… we have Exodus performing on a military ship! Although that seems like reason enough, we’re here in the Bay Area throwing the largest metal event to depict the Bay Area’s rich musical history to the entire world,” adds Nicholas. “That’s why we’ve chosen Exodus as the headliner, because they are the originators of Bay Area thrash and got the world to “waltz it up”. What place more metal to do this than on a WWII air craft carrier?”

Aside from Bay Area thrash headliners Exodus, the main stage will also include performances by Philm, Severed Fifth, Absu, Witchaven, Impaled, Autopsy, Fog of War and Abysmal Dawn. The Pier stage will include performances by Enemy In Peril, Desecrator, Necrosin, Hemotoxin, Mudface, Scars of Envy and ZH.

The third annual Slaughter By The Water event will take place on August 25, 2012 on the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier in Alameda, CA. Sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, Lock & Shock, Rock The Bike, Bay Area Rocks, Scion, Native American Health Center, Dunlop, Anchor Bay Tattoos, Ustream, and Expressions College. The event is hosted by Testament’s Chuck Billy.

Slaughter By The Water is a music festival that stands out from the rest. This is not your ‘normal’ American metal festival,” states Nicholas. “We like to keep it interesting by adding some distinct and unique notables. Also, fans can undergo the ‘nautical festival experience’ without having to leave a dock, pay expensive cruise prices, or pop some Dramamine.”

Advance tickets for the main stage performances (general admission) are on sale now and are just $35.00. Tickets cost $45.00 at the door. Tickets are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/256892. Main stage performances begin at 5pm and go until 12:30am aboard the USS Hornet. From noon to 9pm, access to the entire pier, which includes Pier Stage entertainment, food vendors and retailers, is FREE to the public. The pier stage is powered by Rock the Bike and anyone can join in on the fun and pedal to power the stage! In an effort to take part in green initiatives, there will be stationary bikes set up next to the Pier Stage with a power gauge. Attendees can hop on a bike to increase power to the stage… be interactive!

GET TO THE HORNET EARLY! All main stage ticket purchases also entitle you to a discounted admission rate to freely roam the USS Hornet on the day of the event between the hours of 10am to 4pm. Discounted admission is $12.00 per person in addition to the cost of the general admission ticket. "Boltfest" Raises $20,000 For The Teenage Cancer Trust!

Bolt Thrower's birthday bash, Boltfest, has succeeded in raising a considerable sum for Teenage Cancer Trust*. The show held at the HMV Forum in London on April 7th, included an impressive line-up handpicked by Bolt Thrower: Autopsy, Discharge, Benediction, and Vallenfyre - all who, according to the band, helped 'contribute to great memories' throughout their 26 year career. All 2050 tickets sold out in just over 2 weeks, with the band hoping to achieve their target of £10,000 for TCT.

The band announced today: "The next piece of news, and the one which we're most proud of, is to let you all know the amount we've raised for Teenage Cancer Trust: £12,411.80 (approx 15,000 Euros / $20,000)!!!

The money has already been handed over to TCT, so on behalf of them we'd like to thank everyone who donated by participating in Boltfest."

Bolt Thrower previously spoke about their decision to stage Boltfest, "Anniversaries are kind of easy to achieve. For a band, just don't split up and you'll reach one, whether it's 10, 20 or 35 years. And this year we've reached '25 years of not splitting up!' We managed to stop others from making a big fuss about it, and didn't give in to the numerous offers and suggestions on how we should cash in on it! But it has made us appreciate the opportunities we've been given since 1986, and that we've been able to do everything we wanted to do without compromising in any way.

Obviously you can't charge people to come to your own birthday party, so as soon as we came up with the idea for Boltfest, we decided we should pay all the costs for the event ourselves. We also wanted to use Boltfest as an opportunity to do some good, and turn it into something more than just another show.

So we've decided to ask everyone to donate £5.99 to charity if they want to come to the party. This way, with your help, we hope Boltfest will raise £10,000 for a good cause!"

*Teenage Cancer Trust is a registered charity, no. 1062559 (England and Wales) and SCO39757 (Scotland).
